2019 Governor's State of the State speeches: on Immigration

Ron DeSantis: No sanctuary cities in Florida

Florida will not be a sanctuary state - we won't allow someone here illegally to commit criminal misconduct and simply be returned to our communities. And we won't tolerate sanctuary cities that actively frustrate law enforcement by shielding criminal aliens from accountability at the expense of public safety. Let's prohibit sanctuary cities in Florida.

Gavin Newsom: There is no border crisis; the wall is just xenophobia

Let's start with the fear mongering about the so-called "emergency" at our border. The border "emergency" is a manufactured crisis and California will not be part of this political theater. A third of our Guard will focus on stopping criminals smuggling drugs and guns through existing border checkpoints. A wall that stretches thousands of miles will do nothing to stop this threat. This is our answer to the White House: No more division, no more xenophobia and no more nativism.

Andrew Cuomo: Sued federal government on their family separation policy

Let New York stand up for immigrants. We sued the federal government on their family separation policy and I want to continue that lawsuit because that was a disgusting political abuse of power. And just today, the courts have decided that the citizenship question that was in the census was illegal. Congratulations to the Attorney General's office that lead the suit.
