Speeches at CPAC (2020s): on Budget & Economy

Madison Cawthorne: Not going to promise you free things; I offer your freedom

It is time to stand up and say we are going to react to what the Democrats do. When they try to do these spending bills, try to spend $1.9 trillion, the conservative ideas that we are going to give our own version of the liberal ideas that cost less, that is not what we are as conservatives. I am not going to promise you free things. conservatives in government, we believe that we are going to offer you something immeasurably more valuable, that is your freedom.

Ted Cruz: I am bullish on crypto & bitcoin; it is decentralized

We need to decentralize. We need to break it apart. It is one of the reasons why I am so bullish on crypto, on bitcoin. It is decentralized and not controllable. That is why China recently banned bitcoin. They can't control it which is the same reason Elizabeth Warren hates bitcoin. The Chinese Communists and Elizabeth Warren both want to control you: your savings, your speech, your children. Every decision they want to control. We need to break up the means of controlling the citizenry.

Donald Trump: We will build new "freedom cities" along the frontier

We will hold a competition to build new freedom cities along the frontier and to be a populous America with a new shot at home ownership. I will challenge the governors of all 50 states to join me in a great beautification campaign. We will rename our schools and boulevards not after Communists but after great American patriots. We will get rid of bad and ugly buildings and return to the magnificent classical style of western civilization. We will support baby bonuses for a new baby boom.

Mike Pompeo: Adding trillions in new debt is indecent and can't continue

I see today that we are $31 trillion in debt and I tell my son to work hard. Every recent administration, republican and democratic alike have added trillions of dollars in new debt. This is indecent and can't continue. It will be hard work. It won't just be a campaign speech. Talking about it we need to demonstrate seriousness to the American people why this matters. It will require tough, difficult choices.

Nikki Haley: Stop with the earmarks and pet projects once and for all

The Democratic Party is now a Socialist party. Bernie Sanders and AOC, at least they own it. Look at how much taxpayer money has been wasted since he took office. On Joe Biden's watch, we hit $31 trillion in national debt. He has put us on track to add 20 trillion more in the next 10 years. By the way, some Republicans have helped them do that. We need to stop with the earmarks and pet projects once and for all. Joe's only regret is that he has not spent more.
