Reform Party in 2020 Conventions
On Education:
Abolish the Federal Department of Education
We believe it's time to get back to basics in education. We need to reform and restructure our educational system from limiting the Federal government's role and regulations to the role of States and taxation methods.
We believe that the Federal Government's Department of Education should be abolished and the funds it receives put back in the hands of the States and the people of those states.

On Energy & Oil:
At least 25% electricity from renewable sources by 2025
For the sake of national security we will finally break our addiction to foreign oil. The ARP will commit to bring an end to our total dependency on oil and move our country toward the use of clean and renewable energy. We recognize that any transition
of this magnitude will require making certain interim environmental concessions plus modifications to laws and regulations over the next 15 years. We are committed to getting at least 25 percent of our electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

On Government Reform:
Amendment for Congressional term limits
Our Party, for a multitude of ethical and commonsense reasons, stands behind a Constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on Congress. We will look to put forth the Amendment that there shall be term limits imposed on both houses
of congress of two terms consisting of six years each for Senators and six terms consisting of two years each for Congressional seats. This amendment will eliminate legislators from amassing stature and position and the temptation to abuse their power.

On Gun Control:
Against any excessive restriction of ownership of firearms
Any rational person with a modicum of common sense can understand that the framers clearly intended that all people shall have the inalienable right to keep and bear arms and that right shall not be infringed.
Period! Any prohibition by government to thwart or excessively restrict the ownership of firearms diminishes our individual right to adequately defend ourselves and to self-preservation.

On Health Care:
Strongly opposes a government-run entitlement program
Unlike 'Obamacare', our party strongly opposes a government run entitlement program. We recognize that our government needs to provide a suitable framework of industry regulations allowing for all Americans to receive adequate affordable
healthcare coverage. Our government must take a pro-active role in working side-by-side with the Insurance and health care industry to reshape its policies when offering coverage that is affordable and readily available to all.

On Homeland Security:
Maintain best equipment, technology and defense systems
Our best strategy and defense against these potential threats is a strong offense. So it will remain our policy to insure our military has the necessary funding to develop, acquire and maintain the best equipment, technology and defense systems for
maintaining our military strength and position of a super power while giving our young service men and women the best protection and tools to successfully process any conflict. Armed conflict will be our option of last resort.
We will continue to confront these threats head on while working closely with our allies to bring peace and stability throughout the world. We will pursue a tough, smart, quick reacting and principled national security strategy. It will be our strategy
to first focus our efforts on securing or own borders and citizens from foreign & domestic terrorist incursions here at home. It will be our strategy to focus our efforts on the terrorists who did strike us or intend to do so in the future.

On Immigration:
Undocumented should pay fine and taxes & go to back of line
For the millions living here illegally but otherwise playing by the rules, we must require them to come out of the shadows and get right with the law. We support a system that requires undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine,
pay taxes, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens. They are our neighbors, and we can help them become full tax-paying, law-abiding, productive members of society.

On Tax Reform:
Lower tax rates, pass balanced budget
The American Reform Party will propose the downsizing of the IRS and a simplified reform of the existing Federal Tax Code. We will put forth a bill in which the existing complex tax code will be replaced with tax structures that will put more money back
in the hands of business, States and the American family. Of course we will need our government to put into place a balanced budget proposal which will fit within the newly created tax revenue.

On Abortion:
Reform Party takes no stance on abortion
The Reform Party takes NO STANCE as an organization on issues such as pro-life/pro-choice and gay marriage. The Reform Party as a national organization believes that social issues or values issues (which include issues such as abortion,
gay marriage, and end of life decisions) should not be our focus as a party. The Reform Party does not, and will not, have stances on Social or Values Issues in our National Platform.

On Budget & Economy:
Transportation & infrastructure are critical to our success
Mass transit, public and private transportation and our overall infrastructure are critical to our continued success as a nation. The Reform Party would open a dialogue with the American people on what their transportation needs are.
If we focus on the essential needs of the American people, our long-term strategic needs as well as costs, we can develop a plan that will lead to a better transportation system.

On Corporations:
Eliminate special interest exemptions & corporate welfare
A fair taxation policy without prejudice or special interest exemptions means the tax code must reviewed and reformed to create a new tax system that will stimulate economic development, is fundamentally fair, eliminates corporate
welfare, excludes loopholes, and would be sufficient to pay for essential federal government operations.

On Education:
Empower parents and older children; personalized curriculum
Universal preschool programs and kindergarten are essential for starting our children off on the right foot. Empower parents and older children. We need to give parents more control over the education of their children.
Create and support non-accredited schools that focus on blending a specialized and more personalized curriculum with project-based assessment and apprenticeship.

On Energy & Oil:
Increase fossil fuels, but emphasize alternatives as well
Energy independence from foreign sources means that America's must invest both in increasing conventional domestic sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas but also must emphasize new technologies that make
those resources more efficiently used and must drive toward the use of alternative energy technologies such as solar, wind, thermal depolymerization of organic waste, and biofuels.

On Free Trade:
American citizens' economic security takes priority
We recognize current trade policies have failed and resulted in the export of our manufacturing job base which sustains America's middle class. The Reform Party calls for the repeal or revision of current trade agreements.
America's elected leaders have a primary responsibility to assure that American citizens' economic security takes priority in any trade policy decision.

On Immigration:
Nation which can't control borders is in grave danger
Guaranteeing the security of our national borders means that we must have the ability to monitor and manage all traffic crossing our land or sea borders. A nation which cannot control its borders places itself in grave danger to those who would
use that to their advantage, whether they be trafficking drugs or weapons, human trafficking, supporting a black market economy, or intent on terrorist attack.

On Principles & Values:
Require highest ethical standards and oversight
Highest ethical standards and oversight means that elected officials must have as their first loyalty the entire citizenry they represent, not just the people who funded their campaign or who pad their retirement. This also means that there needs
to be clearer separation between elected officials and lobbying and special interest groups. We cannot continue the endless recycling of people between elected positions and lobbying groups where there is the clear appearance of conflict of interest.
