2020 Conventions: on War & Peace

Donald Trump: Unlike predecessors, I have kept America OUT of new wars

Unlike previous administrations, I have kept America OUT of new wars -- and our troops are coming home. We have spent nearly $2.5 trillion on completely rebuilding our military, which was very badly depleted when I took office. This includes three separate pay raises for our great warriors. We also launched the Space Force, the first new branch of the United States military since the Air Force was created almost 75 years ago.

Tom Cotton: Trump is clear-eyed about the Chinese threat

On the Communist Party of China, there is no comparison. Joe Biden aided and abetted China's rise for 50 years with terrible trade deals that closed our factories and laid off our workers. President Trump stands up the China's cheating and stealing and lying. Joe Biden said Chinese communist aren't even our competitor, aren't bad folks, just months before they unleashed this plague on the world. President Trump is clear-eyed about the Chinese threat and he is making China pay.

Tom Cotton: If we want peace, we must be strong

We need a president who stands up for America, not one who takes a knee strong. A strong and proud America is a safe America, safe from our enemies and safe from war. No one who's seen the face of war desires to see it again. Too many of our fellow Americans are already honored at the hallowed grounds of Arlington. But if we want peace, we must be strong. Weakness is provocative. President Trump's strength has kept us out of war. Joe Biden won't stand up for America. Donald Trump will.

Dan Crenshaw: Fact Check: Claims ISIS defeated; Pentagon says otherwise

Rep. Dan Crenshaw said: "The defeat of ISIS was the result of America believing in our heroes, our president having their backs and rebuilding our military so we'd have what we needed to finish the mission."

"While ISIS no longer has the ability to hold ground, the terrorist organization isn't completely defeated," reads an article published by the Pentagon which quoted Marine Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr., commander of U.S. Central Command.

Mike Pompeo: The ISIS caliphate is wiped out; our soldiers coming home

In the Middle East, when Iran threatened, the president approved a strike that killed the Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani. This is the man most responsible for the murder and maiming of hundreds of American soldiers and thousands of Christians across the Middle East. Today because of the president's determination and leadership, the ISIS caliphate is wiped out, it's gone. It's evil leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is dead and our brave soldiers, they're on their way home.

Mike Pompeo: Trump brokered Israel/UAE deal: one for the history books

The president exited the U.S. from the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran and squeezed the Ayatollah, Hezbollah, and Hamas. The president too moved the U.S. embassy to this very city of God, Jerusalem, the rightful capital of the Jewish homeland, and just two weeks ago, the president brokered a historic peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. This is a deal that our grandchildren will read about in their history books.

Rand Paul: A strong America cannot fight endless wars

I'm supporting President Trump because he believes as I do that a strong America cannot fight endless wars. We must not continue to leave our blood and treasure in Middle East quagmires.

President Trump is the first President in a generation to seek to end a war rather than start one. He intends to end the war in Afghanistan. He is bringing our men and women home. Joe Biden will continue to spill our blood and treasure. President Trump will bring our heroes home.

Democratic Party: Deliver on overdue commitment to end the forever wars

Democrats will deliver on this overdue commitment to end the forever wars, and we will do it responsibly--setting priorities, leading with diplomacy, protecting ourselves from terrorist threats, enabling local partners, and bringing our troops home. We will only use force when necessary to protect national security and when the objective is clear and achievable--with the informed consent of the American people, and where warranted, the approval of Congress.

Green Party: Supports 2015 Iran nuclear deal

The Green Party supports the "joint comprehensive plan of action" signed in July, 2015 which confirms Iran's status as a zone free of nuclear weapons. The Green Party supports the swift elimination of economic sanctions on Iran and looks to the normalization of relations between Iran and the United States. The Green Party also calls on Israel to dismantle its nuclear weapons program and sign on to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.

Constitution Party: We are unalterably opposed to entangling alliances

The United States is properly a free and sovereign republic which should strive to live in peace with all nations, without interfering in their internal affairs, and without permitting their interference in ours. We are unalterably opposed to entangling alliances--via treaties, or any other form of commitment--which compromise our national sovereignty or commit us to intervention in foreign wars.
