8th Democratic Primary Debate: on Budget & Economy

Andrew Yang: Way forward is a new human-centered capitalism

We have record high corporate profits, but what else are at record highs? Mental illness, stress, debt, substance abuse, overdoses, suicides. Instead of following corporate profits, we should be measuring health and wellness, life expectancy, mental health and freedom from substance abuse, clean air, and clean water, how our kids are doing. The way forward is a new human centered version of capitalism that actually uses the markets to improve our family's lives.

Tom Steyer: Take Trump down on the economy

Everybody on this stage is better on economic justice and healthcare than anybody in the Republican party, and a million times better than Donald Trump. That is not the question in front of us today. The question is, how are we going to beat Donald Trump? We're going to have to take Mr. Trump down on the economy, because if you listen to him, he's crowing about it every single day, and he's going to beat us unless we can take him down on the economy.
