Fox News Sunday interviews during 2020: on Homeland Security

Donald Trump: Fort renaming: I don't care what the military says

Q: The National Defense Authorization Act, you have threatened to veto it because it would rename bases named for Confederate generals. The military says they're for this.

TRUMP: I don't care what the military says. I'm supposed to make the decision. Fort Bragg is a big deal. What are we going to name it? We're going to name it after the Reverend Al Sharpton? We won two World Wars out of all of these forts that now they want to throw those names away.

Gretchen Whitmer: Coronavirus: Widespread testing is fundamental & crucial

She disagreed with the White House, who have urged that only those who are symptomatic should be tested, saying that "absolutely" that asymptomatic carriers should be tested. "In Michigan yesterday, there was a report that we've got an infant that tested positive. We know that our young people are suffering severe lung damage as older people are," Whitmer explained. "There's so much that we need to learn in such a short period of time and testing is a fundamental, crucial component of that."

Rand Paul: Don't sell arms abroad as a jobs program

Q: You propose terminating arms deals with Saudi Arabia. What about the president's argument that these create hundreds of thousands of American jobs?

PAUL: I don't think arms should ever be seen as a jobs program. Our arms, our military arms, the sophistication of our arms are part of our national defense. These aren't something that are just owned by private companies, they are owned by the country, and I think we should never sell arms to any country in less it's in national security interest.
