Phil Scott: Ukraine's fight is too important for us to sit out

Scott signed H.717, An act relating to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine. "We are here today to send a message to the people of Ukraine and to the tyrant in Russia: We stand united with Ukraine--for its freedom, and with its people," Governor Scott said in his remarks. "The fact is, Ukraine's fight to protect their people, their rights and their land--and what that means for democracies across the globe--is too important for us to sit out. We must do our part."

Spencer Cox: Utah stands in solidarity with Ukraine

I had no idea that it would take us all becoming Ukrainians to remind us what it means to be Americans. It's almost surreal to see Republicans and Democrats uniting again. And certainly not just Americans. There is a unity occurring all across the world that we haven't seen since 9/11. And so today, I have ordered the Ukrainian flag to fly above the Utah State Capitol as a symbol that Utah stands in solidarity with Ukraine.

I was shocked by the horrific attacks by Hamas against Israel that began last Saturday. Since then, Maci and I have been praying for the people of Israel, as did our church this weekend. America should do our part to support a people bound to us in so many ways -- in faith, in values, and in freedom. This is something bigger than all of us. When the chips are down, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends. We stand with Israel.

It is time for America and our allies overseas to stand in unquestionable solidarity with the Israeli people. Leaders from both sides of the aisle must condemn these pro-Hamas rallies with the same vigor and passion they had when they condemned Hamas and their invasion.

Strengthening those ties is important for Vermont's future, as is maintaining awareness of global events and opportunities. Good ideas, good policy, and good friends are waiting to be found everywhere around the planet. Governors have a responsibility to seek out best practice, no matter its source.
