Hilary Franz in 2020s gubernatorial press release

On Civil Rights: Trails for all: no matter who they love, how they identify

Commissioner Franz said, "I'm committed to ensuring all recreationists, no matter who they love or how they identify, feel welcome and have a safe experience on our trails and at our campgrounds." Washington State Human Resources has already installed gender-affirming restroom signs outside multi-stall restrooms in their building. Gender-affirming signs are those that recognize that a person's gender expression and gender identity may align and may fall outside the binary gender options.

On Environment: Refused to allow drilling equipment to come to our coastline

Hilary defends our public lands and waters. When the federal government tried to open our waters to offshore drilling during the Trump administration, Hilary refused to allow drilling equipment to come to our coastline. After a net-pen collapse released hundreds of thousands of non-native salmon into our waters, Hilary ordered the shutdown of all commercial net-pens.

On Government Reform: Expand our automatic voter registration laws

I think Washington can continue to be a leader for the nation by expanding our automatic voter registration laws, addressing unequal curing rates for ballots cast by Latino voters who are more likely to have their signatures questioned and less likely to have their ballots fixed, and continuing to strengthen Washington's Voting Rights Act to ensure that any proposed legislation pertaining to voting won't have a disproportionate impact on voting rights or access to voting for people of color.

On Welfare & Poverty: She has pushed to build housing on public lands

Hilary knows we must support working families and ensure economic opportunity for all. The lands she manages generate hundreds of millions of dollars each year for schools and public services, like libraries and hospitals. Because our public lands are a climate and a housing solution, she has pushed to, for the first time, build housing on public lands. And she has allocated millions of dollars to spark economic opportunities in struggling communities.
