On Abortion: Judge's decision ran contrary to science, medicine and law

Every American should be deeply concerned that one extreme, Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas came close to overturning the US Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone, which has been used safely and effectively for more than 20 years. Mifepristone is used in nearly half of abortions in my state. The judge's decision, which ran contrary to science, medicine and the law, was an attack on women and on our health care system.

On Corporations: Need to make state more attractive to grow businesses

[On tax cuts]: "If we want to grow Massachusetts' economic competitiveness, we need to make our state more attractive for people to start & grow businesses. That requires making life more affordable so that entrepreneurs and workers can live here & stay here," said Gov. Healey. "We also need to lower barriers for workers to get the skills that employers are looking for to fill openings in their workforce. We're proud that the tax cuts package we recently signed into law delivers on these priorities."

On Tax Reform: Secured the state’s first tax cuts in more than 20 years

[On the 2023 "tax package" which included over $500 million in tax cuts for the middle class and working families, but also over $300 million in tax cuts for corporations and wealthy families]: "We are thrilled to deliver on our promise to pass tax cuts that will result in real savings for the people of Massachusetts, including the country's largest child and family tax credit that will go back in the pockets of parents and caregivers. Everywhere we go, we hear about how people are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living. This tax package delivers savings for those who need it most, while making long overdue changes that will better allow Massachusetts to compete with other states," said Governor Healey. "We're grateful for the partnership of Speaker Mariano, Senate President Spilka and the Legislature for seeing this through and securing the state's first tax cuts in more than 20 years."
