2020 House elections: on Energy & Oil

August Pfluger: Secure energy independence with U.S. oil and gas

I'm proud to support the hard-working oil and gas producers that keep our Texas economy strong. In Washington, I'll fight back against the oil-hating liberals and work to secure total energy independence for our country.

Bill Keating: Create good jobs via offshore wind energy development

In my bill, the Offshore Wind Jobs and Opportunity Act, we recognize the potential for offshore wind energy production along the Eastern seaboard to create jobs and new economic opportunities for workers. Through union training and apprenticeship programs, many will have an opportunity for high-quality, middle-class jobs in the industry. I will continue to support similar and innovative legislation that promotes STEMM training.

Bob Good: Green New Deal and Paris Climate Accord kill jobs

Energy independence is vital to our national security, as we no longer depend upon foreign or even hostile nations for our energy needs. Radical policies like the Green New Deal and agreements like the Paris Climate Accord are job-killing, economy-destroying initiatives. These proposals would not only tremendously weaken the United States economically, but would also threaten our national security and how we live our daily lives.

Greg Pence: All-of-the-above approach to energy; yes to bio-fuels

Greg Pence signed on as a co-sponsor to the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act of 2021, legislation that seeks to incentivize biodiesel innovation. "I am pleased to sign legislation that supports an 'all the above' not an 'everything but' approach to energy production. My constituents are one of my greatest priorities, and that means fighting for legislation that creates good-paying Hoosier jobs, strengthens our economy and work towards our nation becoming energy independent."

Jason Crow: Re-enter Paris Agreement on climate change

We must collaborate with other nations to work towards environmental solutions, including a transition to clean energy. I am a co-sponsor of the Climate Action Now Act, which would set strong goals for reducing CO2 emissions and would re-enter the U.S. into the Paris Agreement. The federal government also has a responsibility to ensure that the Department of Defense is improving its energy efficiency and environmental resiliency.

John Yarmuth: Invest in clean, renewable energy to fight climate change

We should be doing more to invest in clean, renewable energy. Climate change will have an increasing impact on our society and will contribute to droughts, floods, more extreme weather, and the erosion of our coastlines. There is a wide array of ways to reduce emissions, including integrating renewable energy sources and switching to plants powered by natural gas.

Kwanza Hall: Supports aggressive renewable energy goals

For the last 15 years, Kwanza has been working tirelessly to preserve, maintain, and build our parks and green spaces. Wrote and unanimously passed a resolution to make Atlanta 100% Clean and Renewable energy by 2035.

Madison Cawthorn: Private sector key to becoming a clean energy exporter

Q: Do you support statewide efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate clean energy innovation, development, and deployment? Why or why not?

A: I support efforts to become a net exporter of clean energy. I do support innovation and development and believe the private sector holds the answers to the energy issues we face.

Melanie Stansbury: Develop more renewable energy, decrease emissions

Addressing climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. I have worked on climate and water issues for years and believe New Mexico is poised to rise to the challenge by developing more renewable energy, working with industry to address emissions, and building a more resilient future.

Michelle Fischbach: Reduce greenhouse gas and expand renewable energy use

Nicole worked to advance state measures to ensure clean air and water and to combat beach erosion. Following Superstorm Sandy, Nicole helped prevent residential development in sensitive area wetlands, and supported a new law requiring state agencies to consider future climate risk due to rising sea levels and storm flooding. Nicole voted to establish goals for New York to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand the use of renewable energy.

Mike Quigley: U.S. must rejoin Paris Agreement to combat climate change

Climate change is the greatest threat to prosperity. The U.S. should rejoin the Paris Agreement. We should re-institute aggressive efficiency and emissions reductions goals for the power and transportation sectors, and we should stop the fossil fuel excavation on public lands and in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. In addition, placing a federal, economy-wide price on carbon would be an effective tool to leverage the power of the free market to tackle the climate crisis.

Nancy Mace: Advocates complete ban on off-shore drilling

The first piece of legislation I filed as a state lawmaker was an anti-offshore drilling measure. Preserving our land is a top issue for me. South Carolina needs a voice that can work side by side with the current administration in building consensus among members of both political parties. We will never ban offshore drilling at the federal level if we do not have someone who can lead on this issue in a bipartisan manner. Oil drilling and seismic testing have no place on our coastline.

Nikema Williams: Yes to Green New Deal and clean energy by 2050

We must take serious steps to address climate change because people's lives are at stake. Congresswoman Nikema Williams supports the Green New Deal because we have seen the dire consequences of the climate crisis--especially for Black and brown communities. Congresswoman Williams supports the transition to 100% clean energy by 2050 and other bold environmental proposals so future generations can have a healthy planet.

Sean Casten: We must lower our greenhouse gas emissions

I ran for public office to combat the climate crisis and in Congress, and I'm proud to serve on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and work every day to pass meaningful climate legislation. First and foremost, we must lower our greenhouse gas emissions and remove 100 ppm of CO2 from the atmosphere. Ultimately, I would like to see a regulatory environment that prices CO2 and provides direct economic incentives for CO2 reduction.

Teresa Leger Fernandez: Climate change is a crisis, invest in renewables

Here in New Mexico, we know how important the land is to who we are as a people. And we know that climate change is an existential crisis. We must reduce carbon pollution, rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, and invest in renewable energy resources like wind and solar, as well as clean energy tax incentives. My family owns ranch land in el norte, and we recognize the value of regenerative agriculture.

Thomas Kean Jr.: Fund offshore wind energy development

Protecting the Environment is a Priority: Protecting the environment has always been a passion for Tom Kean. He began his career in public service working at the Environmental Protection Agency, where he met his wife Rhonda. He has built a reputation as an advocate for clean energy and open space in the New Jersey state legislature. He has sponsored funding for offshore wind energy development and passed laws that ensure open space and conservation are well-funded. As a prime sponsor of the Global Warming Response Act in 2007, he has long understood the urgent nature of climate change. As your Congressman, Tom will be an ardent defender of the environment.
