2020 House elections: on Jobs

Lisa McClain: Reopen economy; increase the stock market

Q: Unemployment during the coronavirus crisis reached the highest levels since the Great Depression.

A: COVID-19 has directly impacted all Americans with the economy, and that includes our seniors. I will work with our president to continue to reopen the economy and increase the stock market. President Trump has overseen record stock market growth, which includes record 401(k)s. We must also ensure that Social Security is not used to solve other issues COVID-19 has caused.

Teresa Leger Fernandez: Yes to $15 minimum wage, no public college tuition for most

I fully support raising the federal minimum wage -- everyone who wants to work should be able to have a fulfilling job that pays a good wage. We must invest in education and job-training programs, so that students are job-ready out of high school, expand vocational training opportunities, and eliminate tuition at public colleges and universities for most students, so that our workers are not left with crippling debt years after they complete their schooling.

Yvette Herrell: Worker visas: use to strengthen country, not cheap labor

We must place a greater premium on protecting American jobs for American workers and reduce the number of worker visas to only that which is truly needed and does not depress wages or eliminate opportunities for Americans. The first priority for worker visas must be strengthening our country, not providing cheap labor.
