Gloria La Riva: Stop destruction of Native lands by mining interests

Both major parties have continued to allow the destruction of Native lands by mining and corporate agricultural interests in blatant disregard of indigenous sovereign rights. 33% of Native children live in poverty and many of America's poorest counties are reservations. The crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women and the over-incarceration of Native peoples shows the bankruptcy of capitalism from its earliest inception in the Americas until today.

Gloria La Riva: Use sustainable energy, stop fossil fuel pollution

Global warming, pollution, acidified and depleted oceans, fracking, critical drought, plastics choking the seas, nuclear weapons and waste--it is clear that capitalism and production for profit are destroying the planet and threatening all life. The crisis is already here, with the most vulnerable and oppressed areas bearing the brunt. Using truly sustainable energy and seizing the oil and coal companies to stop fossil fuel pollution, are urgent steps needed to reverse climate change.

Jo Jorgensen: Replace coal/oil with nuclear; allow off-grid solar power

I will work to remove government barriers to replacing coal-burning and oil-burning power plants in the United States with safe, non-polluting, high-tech nuclear power plants--and allowing off-grid use of solar power. We need to consider all scientific and economic knowledge to care for our environment, not cherry-pick data to support a pre-determined outcome. Most pollution is generated in developing countries, so reducing pollution worldwide requires zero emission energy sources like nuclear."

Rocky De La Fuente: America has potential to be renewable energy powerhouse

America also has the potential to become a powerhouse for renewable energy research and the deployment of such technologies. Our country has enormous natural solar and wind advantages that we need to utilize. Not only will that approach attract high-paying jobs, but it will also reduce long-term energy costs and preserve our environment.

Mike Bloomberg: Make climate change a U.S. priority; rejoin Paris Agreement

Mike will immediately rejoin the Paris Agreement, re-assert global leadership by laying out an aggressive plan for U.S carbon reduction, and rally other countries to curb climate change. He will make climate change a priority of U.S. foreign policy. And he will protect the U.S. from climate-related security risks and protect the world's most vulnerable people from the impacts of climate change.

Mike will accelerate the use of clean energy to replace power from fossil fuels. He will set limits on air and water pollution from power plants. He will invest in communities that have suffered most from coal pollution or have been left behind in the transition to clean energy. He will expand incentives to make clean energy affordable for all families. And he will quadruple the federal R&D investment in clean energy and end subsidies for fossil fuels.

Mike will create a national program to invest in upgrading homes and buildings to save energy and reduce pollution.

Mike Bloomberg: Make pollution-free homes & vehicles available for all

Mike will make electric vehicles affordable for all families. He will strengthen gas mileage and pollution standards for cars and trucks and add a national zero-emissions vehicle standard. He will reduce diesel pollution from trucks and buses and help businesses and school districts choose electric vehicles. He will build a network of charging stations along the interstate highway system. And he will invest in local and regional public transit systems.

Mike will create a national program to invest in upgrading homes and buildings to save energy and reduce pollution. Mike will set a 100% pollution-free goal for new homes and buildings by 2025. He will shift equipment and appliances from fossil fuels to clean energy to increase energy efficiency and reduce pollution. And he will make clean buildings affordable for everyone and make sure building investments create good jobs.

Joe Sestak: Global warming is a grave threat to humanity and the planet

We can either continue with the head-in-the-sand policies of the current administration, or we can listen to the scientists whose well-studied facts and figures consistently show that global warming is an unambiguously grave threat to humanity and all life on earth. According to our own Defense Department: "Climate change will affect Department of Defense's ability to defend the Nation and poses immediate risk to U.S. national security."

Joe Sestak: Favors fee on polluters with Americans receiving dividend

We must act quickly to disincentivize businesses from emitting carbon dioxide through the imposition of a fee on carbon polluters. I favor a program along the lines of the proposed Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, a bipartisan plan that would set a low initial price on carbon emissions of $15 per ton but which would rise by $10 per year, with the proceeds of the fee returned in equal measure to all Americans as a dividend.

Joe Sestak: Replace fossil fuel subsidies with fees for carbon polluters

Climate change and environmental collapse are twin problems that threaten the very existence of life as we know it on this planet. Solving them presents our generation with the greatest challenge in human history--and it is imperative that we rise to meet this challenge. The stakes are just too high if we fail.

Don Blankenship: At Massey Coal , struggled against "greeniacs" and union

?In 1982, I came to work for Massey Coal Company and was there until December 2010. Again, I received every promotion available to me during those years. I learned about, and struggled against, the ignorance and evilness of the United Mine Workers, much of the media, the "greeniacs," and much of corporate America.

I retired in 2010 and have since spent much of my time managing my finances, enjoying my son's racing, and spending time with my best friend, Meiling.

Howie Hawkins: Socialize Big Oil; reinvest in renewables

Socialize Big Oil and Gas: ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, Shell, Koch Industries, and the rest will never reinvest their fossil fuel earnings in renewables instead of more oil and gas.

100% clean energy means electrified transportation, manufacturing, and heat pumps for buildings. A rapid transition to clean power requires public power for lower costs and effective planning without obstruction by incumbent generators and distributors.

Seth Moulton: Green New Deal addresses climate change AND changed economy

We're facing two primary challenges in this country right now. The first is that our economy is changing faster than ever before, and Americans everywhere are being left behind. The second is climate change. That's why we need a Green New Deal: because if we do it right, we can solve both problems at once.

The Green New Deal needs to be built around green jobs and clean energy, decarbonization and breakthrough technologies, and access to green energy for the developing world--and America should lead the way in winning this moral and economic opportunity. We can lead the world in green tech and green jobs, and we should set the standards for other countries to follow.

The New Deal paved the way for a strong economy and American leadership in the last century. Let's shape the Green New Deal to help America lead this one.

Mike Gravel: Support carbon tax and Green New Deal

The Green New Deal is an ambitious and absolutely necessary plan proposed in the House by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her resolution is an overview of the goals we desperately need to accomplish to ensure not only that our Earth survives as a livable and comfortable planet, but also that we live purposeful, satisfied, and healthy lives.

Marianne Williamson: Green energy instead of coal, fracking, and nuclear

Marianne Williamson: Put a price on carbon to send a sustained market signal

When it comes to an economics of recarbonizing the Earth: Transitioning to an economy that keeps its focus squarely on reducing carbon emissions is not only one of the great moral challenges of our time, but it can also open a new era of US innovation based on sustainable infrastructure, responsible resource management and meeting human needs. We need to explore every option to get there. This includes putting a price on carbon to send a sustained market signal and pay for the external damage done by these fuels. Many progressives and environmentalists feel that carbon fees should be mandatory (not market-based) and dedicated to achieving further reductions emissions to drive them down faster AND to protect lower income and people of color who have the least protection against climate impacts. My Administration would be open to all these ideas.

Marianne Williamson: Supports Green New Deal and green jobs program

Under a Williamson administration, we will take a full systems approach. A Green New Deal would provide an overall strategy for how clean energy, sustainable infrastructure and transportation, and a national green jobs program can revitalize our economy and utilize our innovative and human capacity to benefit all our people. While it doesn't cover the whole range of measures we must undertake to reverse global warming, it is an important step, therefore I support it.

Andrew Yang: Invest heavily in carbon capture and geoengineering

Andrew Yang: Carbon tax: internalize the cost of carbon emissions

We need to have companies internalize the cost of carbon emissions to provide incentives for them to innovate and invest in cleaner technologies and processes. If you are pumping carbon into the atmosphere you should pay your fellow citizens for it as we all pay for it in the end. We need to use the money to improve the efficiency and availability of renewable energy.
