Ben Sasse: US military can bring Iranian "butchers" to their knees

Sasse, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement regarding Iran. "The Trump Administration is right to be making it very clear to Iran that these provocations don't lead anywhere good. General Soleimani is an evil bastard, but he's not an idiot. He knows the U.S. military is able to bring his IRGC butchers to their knees if Americans are targeted. He should rethink his recent provocative moves."

Jeanne Shaheen: Trump needs Congressional approval for Iran military action

Shaheen issued the following statement on requiring approval for military action against Iran: "The American people should have a say on matters of war, and Congress is meant to be their voice," said Shaheen. "That's why Congress' oversight role is enshrined in the constitution and shouldn't be ignored by any administration. I will vote in favor of this important amendment so that the Trump administration understands that it must come to Congress before using military force against Iran."

Tammy Baldwin: Two-state solution for Israel and Palestine

Baldwin joined a group of senators in announcing plans to reiterate longstanding U.S. policy: "It is the policy of the United States
  1. "to support a negotiated comprehensive solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two states with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace, security, dignity, and mutual recognition; and
  2. "that such a solution must ensure the state of Israel's survival as a secure, democratic, and Jewish state, and fulfill the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for a state of their own."
"A two-state solution is the only path to long-term peace that would ensure both the Israeli and Palestinian people can achieve self-determination and live in safety," said Senator Baldwin. "I have long supported a two-state solution and am proud to reaffirm my commitment to that goal because it is more important than ever that we clearly lay out a vision that will bring lasting peace, stability, and security to the region."
