2020 Governor's State of the State speeches: on Free Trade

Doug Burgum: We have an amazing relationship with Canada

We have an amazing relationship with Canada, and Canada's our number one trading partner. Thank goodness for the passage finally of the USMCA trading because there are billions of dollars of goods that go back and forth between North Dakota and Canada every year, and it's fantastic that we've got that long-standing relationship.

Tony Evers: Build Wisconsin's dairy brand in international markets

We've endured the consequences of unnecessary and unproductive tariffs and trade wars. The package of bills we'll announce includes a bill creating the Wisconsin Initiative for Dairy Exports. We have to start maximizing efficiency in our small and middle-sized farms, and we need to build Wisconsin's dairy brand in international markets and increase dairy exports. So, we're going to set a goal of increasing Wisconsin's dairy exports to 20 percent of the United States' milk supply by 2024.

Laura Kelly: Kansas is an export state

I have been a vocal proponent of the USMCA agreement. It's critical for Kansas. We are indeed an export state. The International Trade Division at the Department of Commerce was dismantled in recent years. I've instructed my Commerce Secretary to focus on rebuilding this division. We cannot compete in a global economy without strong international trading partners. We must breathe new life into our efforts to increase exports and compel international companies to choose Kansas.

Brad Little: New trade agreement with Canada & Mexico good for Idaho

Last month, the country took a critical step toward helping us secure future jobs and economic prosperity in Idaho. Congress finally ratified President Trump's trade agreement with two of Idaho's biggest export markets--Canada and Mexico. I strongly supported the deal because it preserves and enhances critical gains made in previous trade agreements for Idaho products. Our farmers and agriculture industry have good reason to rejoice for this important agreement making it across the finish line.
