2020 Governor's State of the State speeches: on Immigration

J.B. Pritzker: Will not be complicit in shameful, draconian policies

We stood up for human rights and civil rights when we put Donald Trump on notice that Illinois will not be complicit in his shameful and draconian immigration policies. We opted in--to welcoming refugees to Illinois--continuing a proud tradition in this state that stretches back to my great grandparents, welcomed here a century ago after fleeing anti-Semitism in Europe.

Doug Ducey: Supports ballot initiative to ban sanctuary cities

If anyone needed a reminder, that here in Arizona, we respect the rule of law: last fall the voters of Tucson demonstrated that loud and clear. And now it's time for all Arizonans to make their voices heard and enshrine it in our Constitution. This November let's give all Arizona voters the opportunity to say YES to the rule of law and NO to sanctuary cities.

Jared Polis: Appointed first DREAMer to serve on state board

In the face of unprecedented hostility from this White House toward our immigrant communities, we say loudly and proudly that we stand with DREAMers and refugees. I was proud to appoint Marissa Molina, the first DREAMer in Colorado history to serve on a state board or commission, to the board of Metro State University. We still need the federal government to pass comprehensive immigration reform. We don't build walls of exclusion in Colorado--we build ladders of opportunity.

Jim Justice: I hope and pray we never have sanctuary cities here

Now, I know this is probably not going to be real popular with some, but really it is so easy. It is so easy to just watch me. You know, I do stand like a rock with our president in regard to things that he stands for, like legal--and I say legal--immigration. I absolutely believe that sanctuary cities do not have a place here in West Virginia, and I hope and pray they never come.
