2020 TX Senate race: on Jobs

MJ Hegar: Supports rights of workers to unionize, collectively bargain

I am grateful for the hard-fought victories of the labor movement that have created safer and fairer workplaces, and will protect that progress as a senator-- I'll always support the rights of workers to unionize and collectively bargain for safe and healthy working conditions, fair wages, and to secure benefits and pensions. In addition, I will fight efforts to cut pensions, Social Security, and Medicare.

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez: Raise minimum wage to $15 and tie it to inflation

The American people need a raise. In Texas, our minimum wage is just $7.25 an hour. We need to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and ensure that it is tied to inflation. Wages should be based on the needs of American families, not on the inconsistency of political will in Washington.

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez: Get equal pay for women through Paycheck Fairness Act

Enact Equal Pay for Equal Work through the Paycheck Fairness Act so that we can close the gender pay gap that has left millions of women-- especially Latina and African American women-- behind.

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez: Expand right to unionize; fully fund Labor agencies

The American people work hard and they should be compensated for it. Cristina supports expanding the rights of American workers to unionize to ensure they can negotiate fair wages and conditions with their employers. We must fully fund the Department of Labor Wage and Hour, OSHA and the EEOC to ensure American workers' rights are protected.

Royce West: Fully supports $15 minimum wage

Hard working Texans deserve a living wage and should not have to live paycheck to paycheck.

I fully support a $15 federal minimum wage and I have fought for legislation to raise the minimum wage in Texas. With the staggering increase in income inequality, a single parent has to work 2 or 3 jobs just to afford putting food on the table. This country can afford to pay workers a dignified, living wage.

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez: Higher pay and safer conditions for workers

Tzintzun Ramirez has spent most of her career in organizing, advocacy and activism. At 24, she co-founded the Workers Defense Project, where, according to her biography, she helped pass a half dozen state and local laws on behalf of hundreds of thousands of workers, guaranteeing them higher pay and safer working conditions.
