On Civil Rights: Opposes transgender ban in military

When it comes to transgender individuals serving in the military Taylor walks a careful line. "I don't support the ban on transgenders," he told The Hill in an interview, putting him at odds with his president and some GOP faithful, but aligned with the majority of servicemen and women who fill his district. On Abortion: Opposes taxpayer funding, but says women have choice

The crowd booed when a man asked whether the government should "support the killing of unborn babies by Planned Parenthood" but cheered when a young woman asked Taylor: "Do you think I have a right to decide what happens to my body?" Taylor, who personally opposes abortion, said he supports the ban on taxpayer funding for abortion and told the young woman that he agrees that "she has the legal right to decide." On Homeland Security: Protects military base access roads from sea-level rise

Rep. Scott Taylor has added language to a bill in Congress that will help allow military bases to access funds to lessen the effects of sea-level rise on access roads. "Some of our bases are vulnerable to that, as are other bases in coastal areas, so we need to be doing everything in our power that we can to be able to mitigate those problems and protect our installations," Taylor said.
