Keisha Lance Bottoms in 2020 Vice Presidential prospects
On Drugs:
Restricts minor marijuana charges from background checks
Bottoms is ordering that records of minor marijuana possession charges be restricted from employers' background checks. "The fact remains that communities of color are disproportionately affected by the lingering stigma of victimless, minor
offenses--even long after the accused have paid their debts," said Bottoms. "This outmoded practice deprives our communities and workforce of brilliant and promising minds, all because of an unfair justice system that can and will be course-corrected."

On Abortion:
Support Atlanta business in face of heartbill bill bans
In the wake of Georgia's "heartbeat" abortion law, Hollywood people have been quick to call for studios to pack up shop. A star is talking about how to empower Georgians who don't support the state's viewpoints on abortion. Alyssa Milano
is working with Bottoms to create a mobile app for Georgia location scouts and managers. Milano said the app would "guarantee we can spend money in places that will not fund voter suppression, inequality and the stripping away of anyone's rights."

100% clean energy for Atlanta by 2035
[Testifying the US Senate]: "Climate change may well be the equity challenge of our time," Bottoms told the Committee. "As the cradle of the Civil Rights Movement, I'm proud to say that Atlanta's Clean Energy Plan puts equity and resilience at the heart

On Gun Control:
Congress should enact gun safety legislation immediately
Bottoms has joined more than 200 other mayors urging immediate action on gun-safety legislation. "Public servants have an obligation to protect the lives of those we are entrusted to serve," Bottoms said. "We need strong leadership willing to prevent
heinous, senseless acts of violence. If we are truly serious about preventing one more family from knowing the pain of losing someone to another gun tragedy, we need Congress to enact commonsense gun safety legislation immediately."

On Health Care:
Keep ObamaCare without giving up private health insurance
Bottoms said "there are millions of Americans who don't want to give up their private health insurance" in response to a question about former Vice President Joe Biden's opposition to Medicare for All. "To think that we have to start
over on health care and add that to the many challenges that we have, I think really is unsettling to a lot of people. We have the Affordable Care Act and what better person to repair the damage that's been done than the person who helped create it?"

On Principles & Values:
Don't just go along with what I say; push back
During one of her first cabinet meetings as mayor in 2018, she met with her department heads, nearly all of whom were holdovers from the Reed administration. It quickly became clear that the new sheriff in town was not like the old one. "If
I tell you to jump off a bridge, don't just do it," she said, according to an official who was there. "Somebody needs to stop and ask questions. You're all here to give me advice. Don't just go along with what I say. Push back."

On Homeland Security:
Trans military ban dangerous and discriminatory policy
Bottoms tweeted a statement saying anyone "qualified, willing and able to serve in the military" should be able to do so. [Bottoms tweeted]: Any person qualified, willing and able to serve in the military should be allowed to do so.
Atlanta stands w/ our trans troops and denounces this dangerous and discriminatory policy. As Dr. King taught us, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." #WontBeErased -- Keisha Lance Bottoms (@KeishaBottoms) January 23, 2019
