Fox News Sunday interviews during 2021: on Budget & Economy

Pete Buttigieg: Invest in infrastructure, get pandemic behind us

For the long term, the best thing we can do is invest in our infrastructure. For the very short time, there are steps we can take in and around the ports that we think are helping. And in the medium-term, again, at risk of repeating myself, if we really want to see all of these disruptions end, we've got to end the pandemic. That's what getting everybody vaccinated is all about.

Rick Scott: Supply chain problems due to regulations, not infrastructure

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg: For the long term, the best thing we can do is invest in our infrastructure. For the very short time, there are steps we can take in and around the ports that we think are helping. And in the medium-term, again, at risk of repeating myself, if we really want to see all of these disruptions end, we've got to end the pandemic. That's what getting everybody vaccinated is all about.

Florida Governor Rick Scott: If the secretary of transportation wanted to solve the port issue, you'd fly out to the port, you'd sit down with everybody and find out what the problem is and then you go solve it. Typically, the problem is caused by some government regulation or some government red tape. If you look at what they're talking about with this bill all it's going to do is cause more inflation.

Rick Scott: I cut taxes and balanced budget; you can do both

Q: The Trump tax cuts is estimated by the Congressional Budget Office to increase the deficit by over $2 trillion over 11 years. Should the Trump tax cuts be repealed?

SCOTT: I cut taxes and fees 100 times, over $10 billion and I actually balanced a budget and paid off a third of the state debt. You can do both. The way you do it is you look at every line of your budget. I went through every line and said, I am not going to waste anybody's money. We've got to do that at the federal level.

Bill Cassidy: Supported the $1.2 billion bipartisan infrastructure bill

The $1.2 trillion infrastructure is over five to eight years It won't worsen inflation, it will create jobs. The $1.2 trillion is good for the United States of America. It would be bipartisan, representing the interest of all 50 states, not just those represented by Democrats. It actually addresses pent-up demand for roads and bridges in my state, across the nation, and other things important.
