Survey of 2021 Senate campaign websites: on Free Trade
Carla Sands:
While ambassador, US exports to Denmark rose over 20%
In 2016, Carla met, got to know, and in turn worked tirelessly to elect President Donald J. Trump and his America First agenda. In 2017, President Trump called on Carla to represent the United States as the Ambassador to Denmark.
During her tenure, Denmark increased its defense spending, while U.S. exports to the Kingdom of Denmark rose over 20%, resulting in the creation of additional jobs right here at home.

Haneefah Khaaliq:
Global trade reduces international conflict and war
Give more power and more voice back to farmers with regard to the sell and trade of their own products, period. Farmers had very little to no voice in the trade war with China, although they were key players. The Trump Administration was willing to
gamble with the livelihoods of American farmers to punish someone else. The tariff war may have been a step in the right direction towards holding China accountable, it undermined our farmers and put them at the mercy of receiving aid from taxpayers.
The United States must remain a top advocate for new markets for our farmers, workers, and businesses. To that end, as a future U.S. Senator, I promise to oppose any legislation that extols the virtues of trade wars and
uses tariffs solely to punish our trading partners. Global trade reduces international conflict and war. It creates long-term mutually beneficial relationships which the United States must continue to build.

JD Vance:
Trump scrapped terrible trade deals, and he was right
Our country used to value working class jobs, and then the manufacturing base of our economy was shipped overseas. I'll fight the corporate elites who want to continue the status quo. President Trump scrapped terrible trade deals and
renegotiated them, imposing punitive tariffs on companies that manufacture in China and other nations. These were the right policies, and the effort to rebuild our industrial base is only beginning.

Matt Dolan:
Trade deals must protect workers, American innovation
I will oppose any trade deal that does not protect our workers, manufacturing and American innovation.
Long before communist China unleashed a virus on the world, they were cheating on trade, stealing our intellectual property and wreaking havoc on our foreign policy aims.

Tim Shepard:
Protectionism limits economic opportunities at home
Protectionism limits economic opportunities at home and makes us less secure. We need to reform capitalism and embrace fair and free trade to ensure American farmers and producers are able to participate and gain market share in the global economy.
It's also an important tool in our arsenal against global bad players, bringing democracy-loving countries into our economic orbit and building on the integration model that has ensured global peace for the latter half of the 20th century.

Tiffany Smiley:
We need stronger trade policies like USMCA that are fair
Tax and regulatory reform over the past several years have been a terrific boost to our economy, but the past year has shown us that our economy still demands leadership to ensure our future is bright. We need stronger trade policies like the
USMCA that are fair to Washington's businesses, workers and farmers. At the same time, we must continue regulatory reform and cooperation that ensures we protect our environment and grow our economy. This is critical for Washington's future.

Jim Lamon:
Level the playing field, no goods from cheap slave labor
Relying on China for our raw materials and manufacturing has become a national security issue. For decades, China has used unfair trade deals to steal intellectual property, damage our businesses, and steal American jobs.
I will fight to level the international playing field for American workers and businesses by ensuring that goods coming into the U.S. are not made with cheap slave labor, unfettered environmental pollution, and unsafe working conditions.

Alabama must have seat at the table & benefit directly
Globalists in D.C. have put us last for decades, and I am eager to set them straight and stand up for truly fair trade. Whether it be trade deals, armed conflicts, treaties or foreign aid, I will make sure Alabama not only has a seat at the table
but benefits directly. This includes an emphasis on domestic manufacturing and production. I believe America should lead from a place of strength instead of allowing business-as-usual to gradually erode our standing in the world.

Lucas Kunce:
Trade pacts for family farms, not global commodity traders
He'll fight for new trade agreements that benefit family farms, not global monopolistic commodity traders.
And he'll empower consumers to choose American by reinstating mandatory country of origin labeling nationwide.

Need trade policies prioritizing American workers & industry
The Biden Administration is pushing "solutions" that will only make things worse: dumb regulations, massive tax hikes, and reckless spending. We need to ensure every citizen is trained for a well-paying job that suits them. We need healthcare that
actually covers what we need it to cover, where people aren't one surprise medical bill away from bankruptcy. And President Trump was right to draw attention to bad trade deals; we need trade policies that prioritize American workers and industry.

JD Vance:
U.S. companies struggle with unfair competition from China
JD moved back to Ohio in 2017. He has seen firsthand livelihoods devastated by job loss, addiction, economic turmoil and so much more. He stood up a business in Cincinnati and has focused on growing companies that create well-paying jobs.
His business experience taught him firsthand that so many American companies struggle with unfair competition from China and from their own government, which often rewards multinational technology firms over Ohio small businesses.

Supported bill pushing back against China's trade practices
[Press release on U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, S.1260]: "This bipartisan effort ensures the United States is positioned to compete on a fair playing field globally, especially with China," said Crapo. "I secured inclusion of the Trade Act of
2021, a comprehensive trade bill to combat China's manufacturing imbalances, threats to free and fair trade, and illicit activity which undermine America's leadership in innovation. This bill and the broader U.S. Innovation and Competition Act will help
stand up our efforts in pushing back against China.""As I have said for years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) presents a grave threat to U.S. values and interests, and its malign influence across the globe puts our own freedoms at risk here at
home," said Risch. "My bipartisan Strategic Competition Act that provides a comprehensive approach so the US can begin to compete with China for decades to come. I will continue my work to combat malign CCP influence in the United States and abroad."
