Survey of 2021 Senate campaign websites: on War & Peace

Marjorie K. Eastman: Disastrous exit from Afghanistan due to career politicians

For Marjorie, America's 20-year involvement in Afghanistan was deeply personal. One of her combat deployments was in Afghanistan where she commanded and was responsible for the lives of over one hundred soldiers. Like a majority of veterans and Americans, Marjorie knows that America's disastrous exit from Afghanistan was not a reflection of how we served or who we are as a nation - it was caused by career politicians who put political strategy ahead of military strategy and security.

Haneefah Khaaliq: Strengthen Congressional oversight over declaring war

I am a proponent of strengthening congressional oversight and transparency when it comes to declaring war. I'll take it a step further by co-sponsoring legislation that demands the approval of congress for any acts relative to or likely to result in war. The purpose of providing congress with this type of power is obvious: to ensure that a great body of wisdom stands as a barrier to any U.S. president who thinks he/she can arrive in the White House with their finger on the trigger.

JD Vance: Only global elites profit from endless nation-building wars

For two decades, global elites have played a trick on normal Americans: send your sons and daughters to die for nation-building wars in some far flung corner of the world, and when their utopian fantasies fail, accept millions of refugees into middle and working class neighborhoods. This is a bad deal for Americans, a bad deal for our troops, a bad deal for the refugees, but a good deal for the elites who profit from endless war.

Craig Snyder: De facto surrender in Afghanistan a stain on US legacy

The de facto surrender of the US in Afghanistan is a stain on our country's legacy, and a complete and utter failure of American leadership by both Presidents Trump and Biden. American leadership means making the tough, common-sense decisions. Ending the "Forever War" has long been a demand by the extremist far-right and far-left political bases. Both President Trump and now President Biden capitulated to the political extremes. This was a political decision that comes at a dire cost.

Jim Lamon: Refocus military mission on China, our predominate adversary

As a candidate for the United States Senate from the great State of Arizona, Jim Lamon is dedicated to putting America First, just as he has done as a business leader. He will take on China, fight back against rampant theft of technology, and work to level the playing field for our American manufacturers and workers. Jim will work to stop endless wars and deployments and refocus our military mission on China as our predominate adversary.

Mark McCloskey: Will fight against China from day 1 in the US Senate

Like President Trump, Mark McCloskey understands that China is the greatest threat to America and the world as a whole. Mark will work with our allies to hold China accountable for lying about the pandemic, stealing American intellectual property, and for their dishonest activity building islands in the South China Sea. Too many politicians talk about holding China accountable, but we haven't seen any action. Mark will change that by fighting against China from day 1 in the US Senate.

Patrick Leahy: Wrote first law banning export of anti-personnel landmines

He has long been a leader in the campaign to ban anti-personnel landmines writing the world's first law to ban the export of these indiscriminate weapons. He led congressional efforts to create ongoing practical support through a program his colleagues later renamed The Leahy War Victims Fund, which provides up to $12 million a year for humanitarian work in clinics in war-torn countries across the globe.

Everett Stern: Don't get into wars not in interest of US and allies

The cornerstone of Conservatism is to protect the United States and its interests. That means giving our military what it needs to do the job, the know-how, equipment and training to manage hundreds of bases, to defend against enemies wishing to do us harm. To accomplish this, the US forms alliances with like-minded countries that share our interests and a desire to be open free democratic countries. It also means not getting into wars that are not in the interests of the US and our allies.
