2021 Governor's State of the State speeches: on Homeland Security

Mark Gordon: We will partner with other states to address veteran suicide

Wyoming continues to see far too many individuals struggling with mental health issues resulting in high suicide rates. I am especially concerned about an ongoing epidemic of suicide that has plagued our armed forces and our veterans. We will be partnering with other states to address veteran suicide. Work we began last year to address this issue in active duty service must also continue.

Jared Polis: Allow gay veterans to receive certain state benefits

It means honoring those Coloradans who have bravely served our country yet been dismissed from the military and prevented from receiving certain state Veterans' benefits because of who they love. With the leadership of Senator Moreno, Representative Ortiz, and Adjutant General Clellan, we will start to right this wrong. I will be excited to see the Restoration of Honor Act reach my desk.

Peter Ricketts: Working to bring Space Command to the Heartland

Nebraska is still working to bring Space Command to the Heartland. Senator Stinner and I are recommending the State invest $50 million towards establishing a public-private partnership to locate this important mission at Offutt Air Force Base.

Kristi Noem: Tax exemptions for veterans with disabilities

We have expanded the tuition program for veterans to include technical colleges. We have increased property tax exemptions for veterans who have disabilities. We have a tax exemption for paraplegic and amputee veterans. We have increased the number of beds at the Hot Springs Veterans Home so that we can care for more veterans. We also broke ground on the first ever State Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
