Pete Snyder: I'll enforce the law and deport violent criminals

Snyder put the spotlight on illegal immigration crime in a new campaign ad, as Democrats continue to turn a blind eye to the border crisis. "Illegal immigration costs taxpayers billions," Snyder begins in the ad. "And it brings crimes and gangs into our communities. Northam and McAuliffe won't take violent illegals off of our streets, but I will. When I'm governor, I'll enforce the law and deport violent criminals."

Mark Herring: Children held at border in inhumane conditions

Following reports of overcrowding, unsanitary and unsafe conditions, and even sexual assaults of children in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities, Attorney General Mark R. Herring and a coalition of attorneys general are fighting in court to protect the health, safety, and human rights of immigrant children in detention in the United States.

Under the Trump Administration, immigrant children have been held for weeks in inhumane conditions without access to basic necessities like soap, clean water, toothbrushes, showers, or a place to sleep. "The way children have been held in these disgusting, inhumane conditions at the border is reprehensible," said Attorney General Herring. "We cannot stand by and allow the Trump Administration to continue to harm these children and ignore the protections granted to them. The way these children have been treated in these detention centers is not who we are as a country and it must be stopped."

Ken Cuccinelli: Politicians interfere with efforts of ICE to do their job

Cuccinelli, who as a Republican state lawmaker pushed several anti-immigration positions, said ICE's efforts to remove undocumented immigrants have been "held up" and "interfered" with by the politics in Washington. He suggested that people should not be surprised about officials carrying out these operations.

"Here we are talking about ICE doing its job as if it's special, and really this should be going on a rolling basis," he said. "They're looking forward to just doing their jobs."
