2022 AK Senate race: on Budget & Economy

Kelly Tshibaka: Cut hundreds of millions from state spending over 5 years

Under Kelly's leadership as Commissioner of Alaska's Department of Administration, the department cut future spending by HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS over 5 years; consolidated services; reduced regulations; opened hiring opportunities statewide; and digitized numerous manual operations. The department also saved millions in healthcare, while expanding options and reducing premiums for members.

Edgar Blatchford: Bottom line in budget cutting is fairness

The bottom line in all of the budgets I have had to cut, from city and state budgets, to private business budgets, is fairness. The simple questions are always going to be, is the budget fair to all and does it fall within the guidelines of the mission statement of the reason why we have the Anchorage School District? I strongly suggest that an honest and fair budget can be implemented if we concentrate on the delivery of services that promote high achievement results.

Pat Chesbro: State should invest $25M to help local entrepreneurs

Chesbro says she'd like the state to invest 25 million dollars in an Angel Fund to help local entrepreneurs. "I think we can turn around some of these fiscal issues we have. I think we can invest in new and innovative industries in Alaska, so that people can have good jobs. Oil and gas have been really important in our lives, and will continue to be, but its not the only thing that we can do. I am optimistic that we can make it better by tapping and investing in Alaskans."
