Anthony Bland in 2022 AR Governor's race

On Budget & Economy: Use public policy to attract and create higher paying jobs

In terms of livable wages, Arkansas ranks near the bottom of all states virtually every year, he said. Public policy making must change to attract and create higher paying jobs. "They (Republicans) have older people in their families and they have kids. They deal with these problems every single day. Republican voters know the importance of dealing with these issues and I plan to do that," he said.

On Education: We need real investment in education to support all students

Improving education in the state will be a pillar of Bland's campaign platform, the educator, who has a doctorate in business administration, said during his announcement speech. "We need to create opportunities for our state that will keep families here," Bland said. "We need real investment in education that will support all students."

On Health Care: Every person in state should be covered by healthcare

Several core issues Bland said he plans to campaign on are healthcare, education, and crafting an economy that provides jobs with better wages. The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare why expanded healthcare coverage is vitally needed in Arkansas, he said. Every single person in the state should be covered.

On Health Care: Invest in children's health, education & livelihood

I believe we need to get back to placing kids first. That is the reason why the medical insurance was called ARKids First, which has been restructured by our current government officials to be obtained by some children, and not all children. At one point, they were considering abolishing the program. Children in our communities are the future of our society, and if we do not invest in their health, education, and livelihood we will continue down this path of failing the children in our state.

On Tax Reform: Definitely would not raise taxes, but oppose education cuts

Roughly 70% of state general revenue is spent on K-12 and higher education. "I would definitely not raise taxes," said Dr. Anthony Bland. "If 70% of it is going to education, who are we harming? If it's going to harm our teachers, our police officers, our students in school, our public education system, where we're now not even using all of the facilities that we have in our state for education. so I do not agree with taking away something that will cause possibly more harm than help."
