2022 AZ Governor's race: on Abortion

Karrin Taylor Robson: Keep Arizona one of the strongest pro-Life states in nation

Today, the Karrin for Arizona campaign released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which effectively reverses the flawed Roe decision. "This is the day we have been waiting for. States now will have authority to restrict abortion in accordance with the will of the people and, as Governor, I look forward to Arizona continuing its tradition as one of the strongest pro-Life states in the nation."

Karrin believes in the value of every human life. She'll fight for the rights of the preborn and to ensure Arizona remains the nation's leader in pro-life policies.

Katie Hobbs: Will veto any legislation that attacks Roe v. Wade

Abortion rights are under attack in Arizona. That is why Katie will veto any legislation that attacks Roe v. Wade as well as work to repeal a law from 1901 that requires mandatory prison time for abortion providers and a 1930s law that makes advertising for birth control or abortion services a misdemeanor. A Hobbs Administration will also propose measures to expand access to reproductive health care including access to birth control and emergency contraceptives.

Steve Gaynor: Self-proclaimed pro-life fiscal/social conservative

Gaynor is a self-proclaimed fiscal and social conservative, and a pro-life, lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He has garnered support from run-of-the-mill conservative politicians and entities like Ducey and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. But he's also been endorsed by Patriot Movement AZ.

Kari Lake: We're not giving women choices, they're given one choice

LAKE: In Katie Hobbs' world, they're for abortion right up until birth, if you are in the hospital in labor, the abortionists are for giving you an abortion, If you desire one. This has moved beyond health care. We're not giving women choices. I'm for giving women true choices. And when they walk into an abortion center, they're only given one choice. And they're not told that you have the choice to keep your baby, and we can help and here's how.

KATIE HOBBS: Kari Lake is entirely misconstruing my position on this issue. Late-term abortion is extremely rare. If it's being talked about, it's because something has gone incredibly wrong in a pregnancy. A doctor's not going to perform an abortion late in a pregnancy just because somebody decided they want one. That is ridiculous. Under a Kari Lake administration, we would have government-mandated forced births that risk women's lives.

Katie Hobbs: Leave politicians entirely out of the decision over abortion

Abortion is a very personal decision that belongs between a woman and her doctor. The government and politicians don't belong in that decision. We need to let doctors perform the care that they are trained and take an oath to perform. I support leaving the decision between a woman and her doctor and leaving politicians entirely out of it.
