On Abortion:
Will veto any legislation that attacks Roe v. Wade
Abortion rights are under attack in Arizona. That is why Katie will veto any legislation that attacks Roe v. Wade as well as work to repeal a law from 1901 that requires mandatory prison time for abortion providers and a 1930s law that makes advertising
for birth control or abortion services a misdemeanor. A Hobbs Administration will also propose measures to expand access to reproductive health care including access to birth control and emergency contraceptives.

On Civil Rights:
Former senate staffer wins $2.75 million discrimination suit
A federal judge denied the state Senate's attempt to overturn a $2.75 million discrimination award against it. Judge Douglas Rayes rejected Senate arguments that Talonya Adams presented no credible evidence that she ever complained to
Hobbs and others in 2015 about disparate pay on the basis of race or sex. Hobbs, who is now secretary of state, was Democratic Senate minority leader at the time that Adams, a Democratic staffer for the Senate, was fired.

Reforming The Department Of Corrections: A source of controversy in Arizona, the Department of Corrections needs reform to cut wasteful spending. Recent reports revealed the Department of Corrections was keeping inmates past their release dates and
failing to provide rehabilitation programs to thousands who could return to a productive life. Hobbs will investigate these issues, implement policy to ensure tax dollars are not wasted, and reform the corrections system.

On Education:
Expedite robust fixes to school buildings across the state
Students need an environment conducive to learning, and schools shouldn't need to jump through hoops to get crumbling classrooms fixed the right way--like fixing leaking roofs and replacing malfunctioning
air conditioning systems. That's why Katie Hobbs will streamline and cut red tape at the Arizona School Facilities Board. Hobbs will also expedite robust fixes to school buildings across the state and aim to lower the costs of long-term maintenance.

New funding for STEM education grants and scholarships
We need to prioritize training students for good-paying jobs in our rapidly growing STEM sector. While STEM jobs pay double that of non-STEM fields on average, people of color and women are underrepresented. A Hobbs Administration will work with the
Department of Education to provide new funding for grants and scholarships dedicated to creating more STEM educators and providing resources to build a pipeline of diverse students with the skills needed to land jobs with Arizona employers.

Climate change has an impact on every aspect of our lives

Prioritize awarding state contracts to Arizona businesses

On Government Reform:
Streamline process to start a new business under one roof
Starting a business in Arizona should be straightforward. But it often involves interacting with several state agencies including the Corporation Commission, the Department of Revenue, the Secretary of State, and the Commerce
Authority, on top of registering with local governments. Hobbs will streamline the process by unifying the application process under one roof so new businesses won't have to navigate a web of government bureaucracy.

On Government Reform:
End conflicts of interest, fight for lobbying rules
Owning individual stocks and controlling certain assets has the potential to create the appearance of a financial conflict of interest. That's why Hobbs will fight to pass legislation requiring public officials to divest from stock and
other assets whose value could be influenced by their legislation or employing department. Hobbs would fight for new lobbying rules to increase transparency and stop corruption.

On Government Reform:
Disclose campaign contributions, support initiative process
Hobbs will fight to ensure all dark money groups have to disclose every dollar spent on races in Arizona--because Arizonans have the right to know who is attempting to influence our elections. In 2017, the GOP legislature attempted to restrict the
ballot initiative process. To prevent any potential attempts by the legislature to limit Arizonans' right to have their voices heard, Hobbs will veto any legislation designed to circumvent the public's right to initiatives and referendums.

On Government Reform:
Will veto any new voter suppression legislation

state, and access to secure ballot drop boxes in communities where mail service is not always reliable. Katie will continue to advocate for the acceptance of non-traditional addresses to make voting by mail more accessible.

Expanded Medicaid, providing healthcare for 100,000s
In 2012, she arrived in the State Senate. And in 2014, she became the Senate Minority Leader. Katie fought for people all across the state, expanding Medicaid and providing healthcare for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans.
She worked to secure the rights of victims of sexual and domestic violence. And she worked diligently and with integrity to provide new opportunities in education and job training, and to protect the voting rights of all the people of Arizona.

On Health Care:
Reduce maternal mortality rate, extend Medicaid coverage
For Indigenous women, the maternal mortality rate was four times that of white women. And for Black, Asian and Pacific Islander women, maternal mortality was more than double the rate of white women. A key component of
Katie's agenda will be to reduce maternal mortality. The Administration will also improve AHCCCS care for pregnant and postpartum women by extending Medicaid coverage from 60 days to 12 months postpartum.

On Immigration:
We have to fix our broken immigration system
"As governor, it is so important when we're talking about border issues that we are working in partnership with the federal government," Hobbs said. "We have to fix our broken immigration system and that is not something I can do. It is something that's
going to take an act of Congress. And so I'll continue to work in partnership with our congressional delegation to help get that done in a way that is best for Arizona, for Arizonans."

On Jobs:
Recruit, hire, and elevate women and minorities
Recruiting, Hiring, and Elevating Women and People From Underrepresented Communities: Katie knows representation is critical to ensuring all Arizonans are heard in a Hobbs administration, and across all agencies of the government.
That's why Katie will continue to focus on recruiting, hiring, and elevating women and people from underrepresented communities across the board, including in senior leadership.
To spur the growth of minority- and women-owned businesses, Katie knows access to capital is critical but many of these businesses face unequal lending access from large banks, even as underrepresented communities have a higher rate of starting
or running a business. Katie will work with the legislature to develop a program administered by the Arizona Commerce Authority aimed at easing access to capital by providing fixed-rate loans and lines of credit to these entrepreneurs.

On Jobs:
Eliminate the tipped minimum wage
Eliminating the Tipped Minimum Wage. The tipped minimum wage is disproportionately harmful to women and people of color, particularly Black women, who earned on average nearly $5 less per hour than their white male counterparts.
Katie will work to eliminate the tipped minimum wage, which will reduce poverty and inequality while promoting total employment growth for small businesses.

On Principles & Values:
Never seen nation so divided; seen it up close in Arizona
I've never seen our nation so divided, and I've seen it up close here in Arizona. It's time to roll up our sleeves and start healing--physically healing from the COVID crisis, healing our economy from a year of shutdown,
and bringing our state back together after the incendiary and divisive politics of the last few years. I'm ready. I hope you'll join me.

On Welfare & Poverty:
Combine assistance programs under fewer agencies
Katie Hobbs will order a probe of all government agencies in search of inefficient, duplicative, and wasteful spending. Hobbs will expect a report from each department on these inefficiencies and a plan to eliminate them.
This will help lower costs for everyday Arizonans and ensure every tax dollar is being thoughtfully used to improve the lives of the citizens we serve.
We need to cut government bloat to ensure everyday Arizonans are able to get assistance and lower costs for Arizona taxpayers. Families often interact with several state agencies to receive critical assistance, including the Department of Economic
Security, Department of Child Safety, AHCCCS, and the Department of Housing. She will combine life changing services under fewer agencies to make government efficient for families to get the help they need.

On Abortion:
Leave politicians entirely out of the decision over abortion
Abortion is a very personal decision that belongs between a woman and her doctor. The government and politicians don't belong in that decision.
We need to let doctors perform the care that they are trained and take an oath to perform. I support leaving the decision between a woman and her doctor and leaving politicians entirely out of it.

On Budget & Economy:
Inflation in Arizona driven by skyrocketing housing costs
Inflation in Arizona is being largely driven by skyrocketing housing costs. And we have to do more about housing. We need to build more, bottom line. Supply is not keeping up with demand.
Prices are through the roof. And people are being priced out of their homes. And we're seeing a huge increase in people who are experiencing homelessness right now because of that.

On Government Reform:
Claims of election fraud with no evidence is disqualifying
KARI LAKE (R): Well, there's plenty of evidence. We had 740,000 ballots with no chain of custody. Those ballots shouldn't have been counted. There's plenty of evidence. You can find it. Well, I'm happy to send it to your team.
The problem is the media won't cover it. The real issue is that the people don't trust our elections. KATIE HOBBS (D): I think anyone running for office who continues to say there was widespread fraud,
they have yet to bring any evidence forward. This is absolutely disqualifying. This is somebody who will have a level of authority over our state's elections, the ability to sign new legislation into law,
the responsibility of certifying future elections. This is a basic core of our democracy. She has nothing else to run on.

On Immigration:
We've had a pretty bad immigration policy for decades
We are a border state, and immigration is a very important issue to Arizona voters. As a border state, we have borne the brunt of decades of inaction in Washington from both parties to address both border security and comprehensive immigration reform.
We need the federal government to step up. We've had a pretty bad immigration policy for decades. We need to get comprehensive immigration reform done. Both parties in Congress have been dragging their feet to get this done.

On Tax Reform:
Cut taxes on everyday items, add child tax credit
We have a comprehensive plan to address the rising costs that Arizonans are facing right now that will put money back in their pockets. We cut taxes on all kinds of everyday items like
over-the-counter medication, school supplies, diapers, feminine hygiene products. We provide a state-level child tax credit and tax credits for people who want to go back to work in higher-paying jobs to get career and technical education.
