Brian Dahle in 2022 CA Governor's race
On Abortion:
You don't have the right to an abortion in the Constitution
Gov. Gavin Newsom took aim at gun makers and sellers with a new push to empower private citizens to enforce a ban on the sale of assault weapons and ghost gun kits in California. "It's an opportunity for him to grandstand," said Dahle.
Dahle said a proposal would likely pass the Legislature but could see issues in court. "You don't have the right to an abortion in the Constitution. You do have a right to bear arms," Dahle said. "So I think he's off-base."

On Corporations:
Seen businesses regulated to death by state bureaucrats
As a small-business owner, he has learned firsthand what it's like to have your life's work regulated to death by the state bureaucracy thanks to politicians who think they can solve every problem in the world if they just pass one more bill.
Ordinary Californians need a government that understands their needs and will work for them, and a governor who'll say no to a Legislature that thinks it needs to pass a thousand new laws every year.

On Crime:
Rights of criminals shouldn't come before rights of victims
- The ISSUE: Many of the most serious crimes, particularly murder, have spiked. Retail thefts, carjackings, and home invasions dominate the news and put our families in danger.
- The TRUTH: The primary function of government is public safety.
The rights of criminals shouldn't come before those of the victims.
- The PLAN: We need to rethink and work to repeal the recent efforts to decriminalize thefts and reclassify many felonies and violent felonies.

On Education:
I strongly support school choice, charter schools
Just as schools and communities are diverse, so are families and what they want from their children's school. I strongly support school choice and would support charter schools as part of the public school network instead of treating them as the
enemy as the majority party in Sacramento has done in recent years. I believe in transparency so parents can know what's happening in their schools.

On Energy & Oil:
Forest management not climate change is cause of wildfires
- The ISSUE: Forest fires emit more carbon emissions than all the cars on the road for an entire year. None of those emissions are counted by the state.
- The TRUTH: Climate change is not the primary cause of California's recent super fires.
-
The PLAN: Scientists outside of political organizations say that poor forest management is a more significant factor [for climate change] in the onslaught of wildfires. We must manage our forests and end these carbon-producing disasters.

On Energy & Oil:
Energy goal: 100% reliable, affordable electricity
- The ISSUE: California consumers pay electricity rates 60 percent higher than the national average.
- The TRUTH: Sticking consumers with ever-higher bills for a power grid that regularly fails them is no way to save the planet.
-
The PLAN: We need to pause the regulators' demands to reinvent the power supply based on an arbitrary schedule. How about these utility goals? 100% percent reliable electricity. 100% percent affordable electricity.

On Government Reform:
Crazy to ban candidate withholding tax returns from ballot
Dahle called it "crazy" for the state Senate to pass a bill prohibiting a candidate's name from appearing on the
primary ballot if they don't release their tax returns. He said it appeared unconstitutional. President Donald Trump has refused to release his returns.

On Immigration:
Streamline path to citizenship, cooperate with ICE on crime
Our nation has immigration laws, and I do not believe we can simply ignore laws we don't like. That said, we've had decades of a failed immigration system. I'm an advocate of streamlining the path to citizenship. One thing I would change as soon as
possible in California are the disastrous policies that let violent criminals who are also in the country illegally back onto our streets to commit more crimes instead of turning them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On Jobs:
Voted against allowing child-care workers to unionize
Sen. Brian Dahle voted against the legislation that allowed child-care workers to unionize, and said he worries the cost to the state will become too much, especially amid talk of a recession.
"On the surface, it's awesome, but it turns into another whole bureaucracy of government," said Dahle. "Where we're headed, they're going to keep driving the costs through the roof, and that comes out of the taxpayer-funded general fund."

On Principles & Values:
I pledge to tell you the truth, restore power, work hard
I Pledge:- TELL YOU THE TRUTH: It's time we know the truth about why Sacramento is failing and what can be done to fix it and turn this state around.
- RESTORE THE POWER TO THE PEOPLE: One party has ruled over California for 25 years.
It's time for a change. I will restore power to the people and common sense to Sacramento.
- WORK HARD FOR YOU: It's time to hold Sacramento accountable for the crushing regulations and wasteful spending. No more excuses, we will get results.

On Tax Reform:
Repeal the gas tax and roll back excessive regulations
- The TRUTH: The State of California has a $42 billion surplus because you pay the highest gas taxes and some of the highest personal income taxes, yet our schools rank near the bottom, we have the highest poverty rate, some of the worst roads,
and worst business climate. We don't have a funding issue; we have a leadership crisis.
- The PLAN: We need to repeal the gas tax and roll back excessive regulations that have increased the cost of every sector of living, from energy to housing.

On Principles & Values:
On 2020 election: Yes, Biden is our president
Dahle refused to answer directly when The Los Angeles Times asked him in a May article whether Biden was legitimately elected, saying only that Biden is "our president." In late April, the website CalMatters reported that Dahle "notably did not affirm
the 2020 election results, even after CalMatters pushed his team to clarify Dahle's position on Trump's conspiracy theory about widespread voting fraud. In a TV interview a day later, he said: 'Joe Biden is our president, no doubt.'"
