On Abortion: I am pro-life

Conservative Values: I AM PRO-LIFE.

On Budget & Economy: Would prioritize transportation and growth

If he were governor, Lopez would prioritize transportation and growth, as he did when he was mayor and city manager of Parker, when it was the epicenter of growth in Douglas County.

"I understand all the pressures that come with it: community services, schools, roads, economic development," he said. "My administration will focus in on alternative corridors." That means more roads and more development, the ingredients of urban sprawl.

On Civil Rights: Don't teach personal choices of sexual lifestyle in schools

Our current governor's policies on education are teaching our children that America is the villain and that our values are unfair and immoral. He demands that personal choices of sexual lifestyle become part of the school curriculum in all 178 school districts, in 1,888 schools. We now live in a state where over 53,000 teachers and 3,200 administrators are poisoning the minds of 905,000 public school students with extreme ideology.

On Crime: Oppose unwarranted, irrational hatred of cops by radicals

The current wave of unwarranted, irrational hatred of cops by leftist radicals, demagogic politicians, and the liberal media is making our communities unsafe. Legislators believe that reducing incarceration rates is more important than the public safety of our communities. I firmly believe that prosecution of criminals is an important public responsibility. My administration will support the men and women in blue and will be the voice to counter the rhetoric of defunding the police.

On Drugs: Marijuana is an addictive drug and not safe

Legalized marijuana is a danger to teens and has caused tremendous harm to certain individuals in our society. As Governor, I will personally work alongside Smart Colorado to expose the perils of pot use. The Lopez Administration will remind the public that we must stop calling it "recreational" marijuana but call it what it truly is, which is "retail" marijuana. When young developing minds hear the word "recreational" they lose sight that it is an addictive drug and not safe.

On Education: Parents want school choice and vocational training; I agree

It is time for the educational system to reevaluate its course and develop a healthy conscience when teaching our children. I will work with the State Board of Education to keep the basic promise of education which is to prepare students for either college or to enter the workforce. The parents of Colorado want School Choice and Vocational Training to be an integral part of the Colorado Education System and I agree.

On Energy & Oil: Don't close coal mines to remove phantom of climate change

If you want to know what our governor is going to do just look at what California is doing and that is exactly what he is going to do. There are several coal mines that are scheduled to be closed with no consideration as to the economic devastation the closures will cause to the families in the surrounding communities. It is wrong to sacrifice the quality of lives of hard-working men and women in rural Colorado in hopes of removing the "phantom of climate change."

On Families & Children: Sex Ed Bill is a direct attack on parental rights

The Sex Ed Bill is nothing less than a direct attack on parental rights. It is the parent's right, not the government's, to make decisions regarding their children's education. It is the parent's right, not the government's, to raise their children with the values they believe are in their children's best interest.

On Government Reform: Opposes National Popular Vote interstate compact

Lopez' website says "The National Popular Vote interstate compact will effectively give Colorado's Electoral College votes to California and New York."

[NationalPopularVote.com describes]: "The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact will guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The Compact ensures that every vote, in every state, will matter in every presidential election. The Compact is a state-based approach that preserves the Electoral College, state control of elections, and the power of the states to control how the President is elected. The National Popular Vote bill has been enacted by 16 jurisdictions possessing 196 electoral votes, including 4 small states (DE, HI, RI, VT), 8 medium-sized states (CO, CT, MD, MA, NJ, NM, OR, WA), 3 big states (CA, IL, NY), and the District of Columbia."

On Government Reform: Local government important; state should stay out of way

Lopez is very supportive of small businesses. Small businesses make a community and he said we need to fill the vacant places in our small towns with a business. "This is our country and the people in the leading roles, such as Governor Polis, work for us. We don't work for them and we need to make them realize that we, the people, are in charge. The local government is the most important government in the state. The state government needs to stay out of our way," he said.

On Government Reform: Wants statewide electoral college to choose who's on ballot

One of the questions was about tampering in the election. He agreed with those present that there was tampering during the election. The system most used and criticized was the Dominion system. Lopez said the county clerk can choose the system they want to work with. He also feels there should be a statewide electoral college system and let them choose those who should be on the ballot.

On Government Reform: State regulators are running amuck, will reduce their number

The Lopez Administration will reduce the number of rules and regulations that are choking the success of small businesses across the state. The Department of Regulatory Agencies is the state's umbrella regulatory agency, charged with managing licensing and registration for multiple professions and businesses, implementing balanced regulation for Colorado industries, and protecting consumers. This agency is running amuck and has too many employees and will be trimmed down once I get into office.

On Gun Control: Red Flag bill violates constitutional rights of gun owners

We must recognize the threat of mental illness or criminal intent when it comes to gun violence, but the Red Flag Bill is not the answer. It violates the constitutional rights of a person who hasn't committed any crime by ordering law enforcement to confiscate their firearms without due process simply based on another person's belief or claim that they are a danger to themselves or others. The issue of gun violence is too important to get wrong.

On Health Care: I believe in free-market health care

I believe in school choice, less regulation, protecting the 2nd Amendment, free-market health care, constitutionalist judges, less spending and smaller government through Tax Payers Bill of Rights--TABOR, enforcing our laws and protecting our boarders, "legal" immigration not "illegal immigration."

On Health Care: No face mask; responds "Do you wear a diaper?"

Lopez said he does not wear a face mask in Denver or anywhere else and if someone says something to him about it, he says, "Do you wear a diaper?"

On Health Care: Would take a hands-off approach to health care

He would take a hands-off approach to health care. Less government and more competition would lower prices faster than regulations that drove them up. Ultimately, society has to lower health risks to reduce costs on health care, not government squeezing the market, Lopez said. "Any time the government has gotten its hands on a program, I'm yet to see it do what they said it was going to do," he said.

On Homeland Security: Ensure we adequately address the needs of Colorado veterans

The governor is the commander-in-chief of militia (military forces of the state - National Guard). I will be responsible for the appointment of the Executive Director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. As a U.S. Airforce disabled veteran, I understand the mission and purpose of the state's military forces. The Lopez Administration will work to ensure that we adequately address the needs of Colorado veterans through both state and private organizations.

On Immigration: Opposes Sanctuary State law forbidding cooperation with ICE

The Sanctuary State law forbids law enforcement who are holding an undocumented immigrant in their custody from informing ICE.

On Principles & Values: A vote for me is a vote for "All of Colorado"

We are all so proud of Colorado and what our state has become. We have built one of the strongest economies and can compete nationally, yet we have not served all 64 counties in Colorado well. I promise to extend our reach to "ALL" in our state. My job is to keep Colorado the great place we have all come to know and love. A vote for me is a vote for "All of Colorado."

On Principles & Values: I do not want to see Colorado become California

[On his vision for the state]: "I do not want to see Colorado become California, and it's happening every day right in front of our eyes. It's wrong and not what Colorado is all about. We need to make Colorado Colorado again, and what is driving me is that we're losing sight of what makes this such a great state," he said.
