On Abortion: Defends a woman's right to make choices about her own body

Annette is a true Democratic leader and the only candidate who has championed Democratic values her entire career. She has spent her career fighting for core Democratic issues like a living wage for all Floridians, defending a woman's right to make choices about her own body, economic growth through helping our small businesses, affordable healthcare for all Floridians, safe drinking water, and stronger and safer schools.

On Budget & Economy: Budget should help struggling families, not make it harder

Taddeo laid out her criticisms of the budget. "This session was a generational opportunity for real change, to focus not only on meeting the needs of today for families who are struggling, but to set up Florida to be a global economic leader for generations to come. Instead, this legislature fiddled at the knee of a governor whose eyes are solely focused on winning Republican primary voters for the Presidency, all while making hard times harder for the families who need help the most."

On Education: Expand state's pre-K program to a full day

House and Senate Democrats this week filed proposals to expand instructional hours in the state's voluntary pre-kindergarten program. "I'm proposing that we expand the pre-kindergarten to a full day. After all, who works three hours a day? This would go a long way towards helping ensure that no child falls behind and parents can get back to work," Senate sponsor Annette Taddeo said in a statement.

On Foreign Policy: Even if oil were free, don't go to Maduro regime for help

Florida Republicans were quick to pile on the Biden administration over talks with Venezuelan leader Nicol s Maduro to potentially ease sanctions on Venezuelan oil exports. Top Democrats in the state also jumped into the fray. "If America was down to its last barrel and Venezuela was giving oil away for free, we still shouldn't go to the Maduro regime for help," said Democratic state Sen. Annette Taddeo in a statement.

On Government Reform: Republican legislature has suppressed voters' rights

Taddeo, a state senator from Miami-Dade County, said the problem is grave. "Florida has a red tide problem, and not just in our water," Taddeo said. "But also in Tallahassee. The Tallahassee red tide kills democracy, suppresses voters' rights, and the laws they passed just this session leaves a really bad smell as well."

On Gun Control: Allow municipalities to pass stricter gun regulations

Sen. Annette Taddeo and Rep. Dan Daley have introduced legislation to allow municipalities to pass stricter gun regulations by undoing an existing state preemption law. The two Democrats have stumped for more local control in the past. "Gun violence is a nationwide problem that requires all hands on deck to solve; restricting local officials from doing their part to combat this effort is dangerous," Taddeo said in a written statement.

On Health Care: Override governor; let voters decide on Medicaid expansion

Taddeo is once again filing legislation with Representative Felicia Robinson which will allow Floridians to decide for themselves at the ballot box if Medicaid expansion is right for them. "Floridians are paying a "hidden tax" to cover the health care received by the uninsured, that's an extra $2,000 for every hospital stay to cover the cost of an uninsured person. All because the governor doesn't want to expand Medicaid for Political reasons." said Taddeo.

On Homeland Security: Opposes DeSantis plan to have state military force

DeSantis proposed reestablishing the Florida State Guard that would be under his command.

DeSantis said this civilian force would "not be encumbered by the federal government," adding that it would allow him "the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible." Taddeo called DeSantis a "[w]annabe dictator trying to make his move for his own vigilante militia."
