2022 GA Senate race: on Civil Rights

Herschel Walker: Against reparations; it's pandering for votes

[On reparations for slavery]: I'm upset about it because all they're doing is pandering for votes because let me tell you, why are you paying African Americans instead of empowering African-Americans? Who are you going to give the money to? What about the people that freed you as a slave? What about the white people that fought to free you as a slave?

This president has denounced any kind of white supremacist. He's denounced everything but because they don't have anything to fight what he's done for African Americans, they keep using the word racist. And I've said many times this guy's not a racist. President Trump is not a racist. Why don't you guys decide to put a plan together that you can do something to help the African Americans instead of trying to call this president a racist?

Herschel Walker: Son is openly gay and led a Gays for Trump march

Walker's son, Christian, has grabbed his own headlines and stirred his own controversies as a rising right-wing social media star, where he has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers.

He has also appeared on Fox News. The younger Walker, who is openly gay, led a Gays for Trump march in West Hollywood in 2020.

Chase Oliver: 2003: Launched his high school's gay-straight alliance

Oliver makes no effort to hide his healthy contempt for the current two-party system. But he wasn't always so disillusioned. As an out teenager in a state where laws against sodomy were aggressively enforced until the state supreme court invalidated them in 2003, Oliver launched his high school's gay-straight alliance. Oliver remembers screening Brokeback Mountain when it opened in 2005 and being so moved that he dragged his straight friends to the theater to see it the very next week. He thought, "This is what's gonna get all my friends to understand the struggle," he says. "But they did not have the same experience. They were like, 'It was a good movie, but you kinda oversold it.'"
