Dan Cox: Critical Race Theory is Marxist propaganda

Remove CRT (Critical Race Theory) from public schools: "CRT is Marxist propaganda and it has no place in our civil and free society. I will also fight to restore local control of education and curriculum and will support parental rights in education."

Deirdre Gilbert: Include people from varied backgrounds for policy diversity

Policy diversity is the practice or quality of including and involving people from different social and ethnic backgrounds, of different genders or sexual orientation. Diversity means practicing mutual respect for qualities and experiences that are different from our own. We must become sensitive to issues of other people's values, beliefs culture, language and religion.

Deirdre Gilbert: Diversity is not divisive: include different genders

PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTABILITY: In a democracy, the principle of accountability holds that those that have been given authority, the responsibility to serve the citizenry. That responsibility must have morally based obligations and duties to "ALL" and not "SOME."

Doug Gansler: Received Equality Maryland award for support of LGBT rights

Guided by his values, Doug was the first statewide elected official in Maryland history to support marriage equality. He later received Equality Maryland's "Ally for Equality" award for support of LGBT rights.

Greg Lopez: Don't teach personal choices of sexual lifestyle in schools

Our current governor's policies on education are teaching our children that America is the villain and that our values are unfair and immoral. He demands that personal choices of sexual lifestyle become part of the school curriculum in all 178 school districts, in 1,888 schools. We now live in a state where over 53,000 teachers and 3,200 administrators are poisoning the minds of 905,000 public school students with extreme ideology.

Jason Martin: We need to protect our LGBTQIA+ Tennesseans

One of the primary responsibilities of government is to protect those who need protecting and provide a voice to those who feel silenced. We need to make sure that we protect our LGBTQIA+ Tennesseans. These hard working, integral members of our communities have often been silenced and marginalized, and under my administration I will make sure that they are valued and heard. There is more than one type of family, and they all have love.

Jim Pillen: Critical race theory is anti-American ideology

As the parent of a high school junior, I join thousands of Nebraska parents in opposing the proposed State Board of Education "health standards," which sexualize students and supplant parental values with a radical view. I will continue to stand with Nebraska parents and families against attempts to inject anti-American ideology, like the "1619 project" and "critical race theory," into Nebraska classrooms.

Josh Shapiro: Ban LGBTQ+ discrimination in Pennsylvania

As Governor, Josh will put his full capital behind the effort to finally ban discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals in Pennsylvania so that LGBTQ+ community can work, attend school, and seek housing under the same rights as everyone else in the Commonwealth. He'll expand our hate crime laws to cover our LGBTQ+ communities, invest in mental health resources to support LGBTQ+ youth, and finally ban conversion therapy for minors.

Kai Kahele: Enshrine protections for the LGBTQ+ community into law

We must address the epidemic of violence against the trans community across the country, end conversion therapy, lift the ban on transgender service members serving in our armed forces, and stop the bullying of LGBTQ+ youth which impacts their physical and mental health and leads to a disproportionate level of suicide and homelessness among them. Kai supports the Equality Act to enshrine protections for the LGBTQ+ community into our federal nondiscrimination laws.

Katie Hobbs: Explicitly ban LGBTQ+ discrimination in a variety of areas

Katie will work to secure ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, which the state legislature continues to stall session after session. A Hobbs Administration will also work to enact anti-discrimination policies that will ensure equality by explicitly banning LGBTQ+ discrimination in a variety of areas including housing, education, adoption, foster care, insurance, public accommodations, and procuring credit. Katie will also work to pass a ban on profiling by law enforcement.

Maura Healey: Include health equity as part of Health Care Cost Trends

Maura is focused on addressing the affordability crisis and promoting health equity, while maintaining the highest quality of care. Last year, her office released a robust report on racial inequity in health with recommendations in key areas to move toward racial justice in health care. As Governor, Maura will build on that vision to ensure we have a system that serves every community. This includes:

Mike Murphy: Let people live their lives as they so choose

There is no place in our society where acts of violence, discrimination, or crimes based on gender, age, sex, race, religion, or sexual orientation should be accepted. It is time that all members of our society stop pushing their personal views, biases, and policies upon others and let people live their lives as they so choose.

Rushern Baker: Our differences are to be celebrated, accepted, protected

Every facet of government and life should reflect diversity and inclusion. Our administration would be a champion for all. This means that our differences in race, ability, religion, ethnicity, and sexual preference are celebrated, accepted, and protected. However, solely governing with these ideals is not enough. We need to be intentional about restoring people's trust in a government that will see them, amplify their voices, and remove obstacles that were systemically put in place to hold some down and lift others up. Every Marylander deserves to live their best life.

Recovery is an opportunity to create a state where everyone can benefit from a thriving and competitive economy. We want to deliberately invest in the people and infrastructure of underserved communities; eliminate discriminatory practices in lending; ensure equal access to grants; and make Maryland the Black Business Startup Capital of the Nation.

Sonia Chang-Diaz: Focus on equity in recovery/infrastructure spending

Implement rigorous goal-setting, tracking, and targeting of resources in the billions of dollars' worth of spending the state will undertake to deploy federal recovery and infrastructure funding--similar to the Racial Equity Scorecard that Sonia helped design for the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act spending package. Massachusetts has the chance to make significant leaps toward equity with the jobs, contracts, and programming these funds will create.

Tina Kotek: Came out in early 20s; been with wife for 17 years

I also came out as a lesbian in my early twenties and it was liberating. While it wasn't always easy, each experience coming out to others strengthened my resilience. For me, coming out became a personal responsibility to undermine hatred and bigotry. While getting my graduate degree, I fought for and won domestic partnership rights for faculty and students at the University of Washington. Tina and her wife Aimee have been together for 17 years. They live in North Portland with their two dogs. My experience working at nonprofits on behalf of Oregon's most vulnerable led me to serve in the Oregon Legislature. In my first term, I rewrote the state's poverty program for low-income families. In 2013, I was honored to be elected Speaker of the House. From expanding economic security for more families, combating climate change, and working hard to get us through an unprecedented pandemic, my time in the legislature has been dedicated to fighting for Oregonians.

Wes Moore: Ensure Maryland schools adopt LGBTQ+ affirming policies

Support students who identify as LGBTQ+ by fully implementing the newly passed Inclusive Schools Act, ensuring Maryland schools adopt LGBTQ+ affirming policies, create partnerships with organizations working with LGBTQ+ youth to provide additional resources needed to support our students, and broaden access to trauma-informed mental health care in schools.

Support the passage of the Trans Health Equity Act to ensure transgender Marylanders can receive the gender-affirming health care they need.

Betsy Johnson: Fight bigotry and protect marriage equality in Oregon

The gay community continues to face discrimination and threats of violence. I will fight bigotry and discrimination in all forms and protect marriage equality in Oregon. As Oregon's independent governor, I will speak out against and act against racism, prejudice, and discrimination in all its forms. I will promote equal opportunity for all Oregonians.

Helena Foulkes: Supports state amendment to protect marriage equality

Helena is a fierce advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. In light of the Supreme Court's recent actions, it's more important than ever that Rhode Island has a governor who will do everything in their power to protect LBGTQIA+ rights. Helena will support a constitutional amendment here in Rhode Island that would specifically protect marriage equality. And if the Supreme Court were to overturn marriage equality, Helena would fiercely protect Rhode Island's existing state law.
