2022 MO Senate race: on Abortion

Dave Schatz: The Missouri Way made it most pro-life state in the nation

The best way to fix Washington DC is the Missouri Way. The same principles we have relied on here in the Show-Me state to make Missouri the most pro-life, pro-freedom, pro-family, pro-law enforcement state in our nation.

Eric Greitens: Called for public prayer supporting anti-abortion centers

Gov. Eric Greitens asked audiences to pray for the "career politicians" prior to the special session he called to repeal a St. Louis city reproductive anti-discrimination ordinance and pass religious protections for pregnancy centers. These religious-based centers received over $7 million in tax credits in the 2017 state budget but have zero state regulations mandating they provide medically accurate information (most don't) or employ medical staff (many don't).

Eric Schmitt: Reinstate rule banning abortion referrals with federal funds

Schmitt announced Missouri would join a lawsuit against the Biden administration that would seek to reinstate a federal rule imposed during the Trump administration regarding abortions. The Biden administration had peeled back a 2019 rule that banned federally funded family planning clinics from referring patients for abortions. It also required family planning clinics receiving federal funds to remain financially and physically separate from abortion providers.

Eric Schmitt: Appealed abortion decision, asks to overturn Roe v. Wade

Schmitt said he filed a request for the nation's highest court to hear arguments on a 2019 state law that bans abortions as soon as eight weeks into pregnancy and also prohibits abortions based on a Down syndrome diagnosis. Schmitt's court filing says the Supreme Court should consider whether Missouri's restrictions are "reasonable regulations on abortion" and should also use the case to decide whether to overturn its Roe v. Wade precedent granting a right to abortion.

Mike Kehoe: Most innocent person you can protect is in the womb

[On the unborn]: "The most fundamental, innocent person that you can protect is that person in the womb that can't speak for themselves," Kehoe said. "Way before politics, I've been involved with multiple organizations, both in the community and statewide. . We really believe in the passionate plea that that person that can't speak for themselves has, and I think as elected officials we're the person that needs to speak for that person."

Mike Kehoe: Missouri has moved the needle in protecting life

Hundreds of Missourians gathered at the capitol to protest abortion in Missouri. Kehoe said it was important for him to be there and show his support. He noted Missouri has been a leader in pro-life initiatives. "Missouri has moved the needle so well in protecting life just a decade ago the numbers and statistics we had on abortion each year was very sad and every year we've decreased and decreased and decreased those numbers," he said.
