2022 MO Senate race: on Principles & Values

Billy Long: Biden and Harris should resign

In fact, they and their team of Obama administration holdovers are actively working against the interests of the country. For their dereliction of duty in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, their total capitulation to China and other adversaries, their calamitous open border policies, their disastrous fiscal policies, their servitude to the radical woke left, and their utter failure to lead the nation, Biden and Harris should resign.

Billy Long: I'm not a politician; I'm a congressman

Trump asked him if associating his name with Long's campaign run was a savvy political move, and the Springfield man said he didn't really care. "(Trump) looked at me and said, 'You really don't care, do you?' and I said, 'No, I don't care if it's a politically smart move. I've never loved the politics. I'm not a politician. I'm a congressman.' I said I want to do the right things for the right reasons every day I'm there--if you do the right policy, the politics will follow."

A plan to remove statues of Confederates and white supremacists from the Capitol attracted votes from a bipartisan supermajority of U.S. House members this week. Dave Schatz: Values of honesty, integrity, hard work were instilled in me

Growing up a blue collar kid in rural Missouri, I spent long days working in my family's construction business, where the values of honesty, integrity and hard work were instilled in me as a young man. It was then that I became inspired by Ronald Reagan. He spoke to our conservative values, our commonsense beliefs and our way of life. He wasn't part of the club. He didn't care about the club. I respected that. That's who I am.

Eric Greitens: AdWatch: Join MAGA and let's go RINO hunting!

In the ad, Greitens introduces himself as a "Navy SEAL" as he holds a long shotgun, announcing "Today, we're going RINO hunting!" He walks towards a residential home, as other anonymous soldiers in combat fatigues join him.

The RINO "feeds on corruption and is marked by the stripes of cowardice," says Greitens as his combat team breaks down the door of the home, toss a flash-bang grenade inside, and rush in.

"Join the MAGA Crew, get a RINO hunting permit," announces Greitens inside the smoke-filled front room. "There's no bagging limit, no tagging limit, and it doesn't expire until we save our country."

Viewers are then directed to go to Greitens' campaign website, where a $25 donation will get a sticker with the "RINO Hunting Permit" design shown in the video.

It's not his first time selling "hunting permits." During his gubernatorial race in 2016, Greitens sold "ISIS Hunting Permits," but that was supposed to be about terrorists.

[On Missouri values}: "We've been really blessed," Kehoe said. "Claudia and I think it's our time to give back to Missourians. It's been a good community and state to us--Missourians have welcomed us into their homes. I love this state, I'm a true Missourian who's never lived anywhere else, and I think it's our opportunity to give back."

Scott Sifton: Supported impeachment of then-governor Eric Greitens

He emphasized the importance of keeping former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens from being elected to a statewide position. Sifton said voters can count on him to take on Eric Greitens, because he has done it before. He cited his work on various Senate bills, projects and investigations during Greitens' gubernatorial term. Sifton was one of 29 out of 32 senators to sign the Greitens impeachment inquiry.

Scott Sifton: Promote truth and equality; trust science

[On Jan. 6 insurrection]: "Missouri needs a senator who promotes truth, not conspiracy theories. And equality, not hate. A senator who trusts science instead of denying it," Sifton said during his minute-and-a-half video, hitting on talking points of those critical of former President Donald Trump and his allies. Sifton criticized the state's Republican junior senator for inciting the rioters who invaded the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6--a charge Hawley has denied.

Vicky Hartzler: Voted against certifying Biden's Electoral College victory

During a campaign kickoff at Frontier Justice, a gun store in Lee's Summit, Hartzler unloaded attacks on President Biden, Democrats and "cancel culture." She sought to link herself to former President Trump, telling supporters that together they would "Make America Great Again." In Congress, Hartzler was one of five House Republicans from Missouri who voted against certifying Biden's Electoral College victory. She has spoken against LGBTQ rights and called for tough treatment of China.

Eric Schmitt: No-show at first Senate debate

Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who last week accused Democrat Trudy Busch Valentine of dodging debates, refused to show up for the first debate of Missouri's U.S. Senate campaign on Friday.

Organized by the Missouri Press Association as part of its annual convention in Lake Ozark, Valentine, the Libertarian Party candidate, and the Constitution Party candidate shared the stage with an empty lectern that was reserved for Schmitt. [An organizer] said this is only the second time since 1988 that a major-party candidate has refused to attend one of the organization's debates.

Eric Schmitt: Filed lawsuit to overturn 2020 election

As Missouri's attorney general, Republican Senate nominee Eric Schmitt supported a December 2020 effort to overturn the election--signing on Missouri to the Texas-led lawsuit that sought to get the Supreme Court to rescind Biden's victory.

Schmitt is running against Democrat Trudy Busch Valentine, a nurse and an heir to the Anheuser-Busch beer fortune, for the open seat being vacated by retiring Republican Sen. Roy Blunt. Schmitt's office did not respond to a request for comment for this article.
