Scott Sifton in 2022 MO Senate race

On Budget & Economy: Economic growth requires investments in infrastructure

Asked what he would focus on during his campaign, Sifton said: "Ending this pandemic and healing the economic damage to families has to be our top priority. But it has to be done with an eye toward long-term inclusive economic growth. "That means harnessing jobs and opportunity and making investments in infrastructure," he said. "It's also important that we protect Social Security and Medicare and address climate change."

On Government Reform: We raise our hands for voting rights, not insurrection

[On election reform]: "When he raised his fist and betrayed our democracy, Josh Hawley showed us who he really is," Sifton said. "So next year, when that Senate seat is on the ballot, we the people of Missouri need to show who we are," Sifton said. "I'm Scott Sifton and I believe in a Missouri where we raise our hands to support voting rights, not violent insurrection; to salute classroom teachers, not cop killers; and to stand up for racial justice, not white supremacy."

On Principles & Values: Supported impeachment of then-governor Eric Greitens

He emphasized the importance of keeping former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens from being elected to a statewide position. Sifton said voters can count on him to take on Eric Greitens, because he has done it before. He cited his work on various Senate bills, projects and investigations during Greitens' gubernatorial term. Sifton was one of 29 out of 32 senators to sign the Greitens impeachment inquiry.

On Principles & Values: Promote truth and equality; trust science

[On Jan. 6 insurrection]: "Missouri needs a senator who promotes truth, not conspiracy theories. And equality, not hate. A senator who trusts science instead of denying it," Sifton said during his minute-and-a-half video, hitting on talking points of those critical of former President Donald Trump and his allies. Sifton criticized the state's Republican junior senator for inciting the rioters who invaded the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6--a charge Hawley has denied.

On Social Security: Protect the social safety net which matters to everyone

That personal story will underscore his message of "building an economy that works for everyone in every corner of Missouri."

"That means access to quality, affordable health care, that means investment in our infrastructure in all parts of the state, improving our public schools, prioritizing job training and higher education, and of course, protecting the social safety net--social security and Medicare which matters to everyone regardless of what part of the state they're in," Sifton said.
