Block: I do not agree with drilling near urban areas. Striking a balance between residents and opportunities is delicate and difficult. Time and studies need to be taken into account to ensure the safety and integrity of our urban community is first and foremost. The energy sector is a huge part of our state's economy and our county can and has benefited from it as well.
Dow: Oppose. New Mexico is heavily reliant on the oil and gas industry. Nearly 45% of our budget is attributed to that industry. A moratorium on fracking would devastate our education system's biggest funding source, and eliminate thousands of high paying jobs in New Mexico.
