Joe Pinion in 2022 NY Senate race

On Crime: Needs of criminals elevated over safety of law enforcement

[On law enforcement]: "From Defund Police to Cashless Bail, New Yorkers watched helplessly as the needs of the criminals were elevated over the safety and security of law enforcement and our communities," Pinion told The Post. Today marks a critical step in our quest to end this destructive slide."

"We will build a Nationwide Law enforcement coalition to end the assault of police enforcement and restore Law and order by defeating Chuck Schumer," he added.

On Government Reform: We've passed policies inhospitable for businesses, families

As downtowns dramatically downsized and a once-powerful agricultural community fell into decline, population numbers throughout the regions north of New York City have languished. "The hard truth is that opportunity no longer lives here because we have passed policies that have made this an environment that is inhospitable for business it is also inhospitable for the family," the candidate said during a stop last week at The Post-Journal in Jamestown.

On Gun Control: Rated 0% by New York NRA

The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association rated Joe Pinion 0% in their 2018 ratings, indicating an anti-gun-rights stance.

The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association is the state's largest and nation's oldest firearms advocacy organization. Since 1871, the organization has been dedicated to the preservation of Second Amendment rights, firearm safety, education and training, and the shooting sports. On Principles & Values: Participated in Christian right ReAwaken America Tour

Crowds continued to gather at Cornerstone Church in Batavia for the second day of the ReAwaken America Tour. The tour is a political movement speaking tour featuring prominent Christian nationalists and Republican Party members.

"I think that's what you see here today, a lot of people gathered peacefully, to pray together, to commiserate together, and to talk about what they can do, when they can, and where they can to have a positive impact on their society," said Joe Pinion.

On Crime: Three most dangerous words: "defund the police"

Mr. Pinion says he's expecting endorsements soon from law enforcement unions concerned about Democratic Party support for what Mr. Pinion calls the "three most dangerous words" in English--"defund the police."

Mr. Pinion warms up when he steers our conversation toward the numbers that actually reflect reality for New Yorkers--what he describes as an untold story of pain and suffering. Sixty percent of children are not proficient in school. The city of Rochester, New York, has a per capita murder rate that is higher than Chicago's. Syracuse, New York, has the highest child poverty rate in the nation among cities with populations of more than 100,000.

The things that really matter to New York voters, Mr. Pinion says, are crime, children who can't read, the cost of gas, the cost of a rotisserie chicken, heating bills.

On Foreign Policy: Shameful to boycott, divest, and sanction Israel

Mr. Pinion is running to the pro-Israel side of Mr. Schumer, faulting the majority leader for the "shameful" fact that the movement to boycott, divest, and sanction Israel is "fueled by members of his own delegation," while New York experiences an "astronomical spike in antisemitism."
