Jane Timken in 2022 OH Senate race

On Corporations: Cut corporate tax from 25% if Biden raises from 21%

Timken said she would work to fight for tax cuts if President Joe Biden succeeds in raising corporate tax rates from 21% to between 25 and 28% as part of his plan to pay for the American Jobs plan.

On Budget & Economy: We need to get back to fiscal responsibility

When asked what she disagreed with Trump on, Timken said Trump's spending was far too high. "I think we need to get back to fiscal responsibility," she said.

On Civil Rights: Critical race theory seeks to stoke racial flames

Instead of teaching the facts of history--good and bad--critical race theory promotes a slanted view of America through a racial and ideological lens. While we must certainly teach empathy and how we can learn and grow as a nation, critical race theory seeks to stoke racial flames by creating a state of perpetual division between neighbors, friends, and communities.

I believe America is the greatest country in the world that allows people of all race, color, and creed to achieve their own American Dream. That is the America I want to teach our children, and the America I will fight for in the United States Senate.

On Crime: I will always "Back the Blue," not defund the police

We cannot listen to the lefts' radical calls for defunding or abolishing the police. Republicans support common-sense solutions to police reform such as more training, better equipment like bodycams, and enhanced transparency--none of which would be possible without proper funding. While we should always root out bad apples and hold those accountable who break the law or misuse force, we cannot paint police officers with a broad and destructive brush. I will always "Back the Blue."

On Education: Local control of education, not critical race theory

[On schooling]: "I am very concerned about the effects of Critical Race Theory and other leftist teachings. Moms, dads, and teachers know what is best for our kids in the classroom--not partisan propagandists." Timkin mentioned the 1619 project. Timken says, "We can talk about our history and the great things that have happened and some of the tragic things that have happened, but not through a filter of everything is race."

On Energy & Oil: Oil and gas are essential for energy and jobs

As gas prices are spiking and you're waiting at the pump in long lines, reminder that Biden and Democrats are launching an assault on American energy workers and independence. When Democrats say they want to shut down pipelines and oil and gas - believe them.

On Foreign Policy: Stand up for Israel, Iran is a threat to Israel and US

I've had several conversations with folks in the Jewish community. They're very concerned about Iran. They want to make sure that Israel is protected as our number one ally in the Middle East. We need to stand up for our ally, Israel, and, I'm very concerned about the Biden's administration's approach to Iran. We cannot have Iran develop nuclear capabilities. It is a threat to Israel, our ally, and is a threat to the United States's security.

On Foreign Policy: BDS movement antisemitic, would push back with legislation

We really need to push back on the BDS movement. That is a leftist policy that is antisemitic, and I see it on college campuses, I see it in their dialogue and rhetoric, and I will stand up and push back against that because I think it's leading to some real disastrous effects. I think there's some things we can do in terms of college campuses, how these movements are being pushed on to college campuses, that I'd like to get some legislation passed to push back on that.

On Foreign Policy: Abraham Accords have been a significant development

I absolutely applaud President Trump's approach to our foreign policy in the Middle East. I was very proud when he moved the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as had been promised by several presidents before. And the Abraham Accords have been a significant development in the Middle East. Look, it's peace through strength. He has stood up for Israel, and I will always do that as the next United States senator. We need to make sure that Israel is protected.

On Foreign Policy: Advocates strong and public support for Israel

Israel has a right to defend itself and America must stand resolute with Israel against these terrorist attacks. Where is Joe Biden and Democratic leadership? I am praying for peace and will always #standwithIsrael.

On Foreign Policy: I will always work to advance policies that weaken Iran

America--and Israel--cannot afford Biden being wrong again when it comes to rejoining the Iran Nuclear Agreement. An Iran armed with nuclear weapons would pose an unacceptable danger to Israel and the United States. We must continue a policy that prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and holds them accountable for their support of terrorism. As a U.S. Senator, I will always work to advance policies that weaken Iran, not embolden them.

On Government Reform: There was widespread fraud in 2020's election

There was widespread fraud in 2020's election, and I would have voted against certifying because I wanted to have a full airing of what happened in November of 2020. We never had the opportunity to explore some of the disastrous policies. Election integrity is very important to me, and we never had the opportunity to actually have full hearings of what happened in a lot of these states.

On Government Reform: Democrats want to rig every election going forward

Democrats changed the rules in 2020 and now want to rig every election going forward to make it nearly impossible for conservatives to win again. Democrats should want American voters to have confidence in the elections process just as much as Republicans do. Free and fair elections should not be a partisan issue. I will do everything in my power to protect the integrity of the vote and the integrity of America's ballot box.

On Health Care: Obamacare was a government takeover of our healthcare

One of the reasons why I objected to Obamacare was because it was a government takeover of our healthcare in our lives. I don't believe in government intrusion. I think government takeover of our healthcare is an inefficient way to deliver good healthcare results for the American people. And you start to see this overreach in the disastrous policies of the Democrats. Federal control is not what this country is about.

On Health Care: COVID: No new mask mandates; no mandated vaccines in schools

These are our kids and this is their future. We have to stand up and fight back against the left's continued power grabs that place teachers unions and leftist ideology first, and students last.

That means full in person learning, no new mask mandates, no mandated vaccines, and no Critical Race Theory. It should be up to parents, in consultation with their doctor, whether or not they want their child vaccinated. It should be up to parents whether or not they want their child to wear a mask.

On Homeland Security: Supports investing in our military and veterans

Despite the 2020 election loss for the former president, Timken thinks that the America First agenda is still on the minds of Ohio voters. "They like President Trump's policies," she said. "If you think about what he was able to accomplish, whether it was securing the border or being strong on a national foreign policy stage. Our economy was booming before the pandemic, we had invested in our military and veterans. Those are things that resonate with voters and they still resonate with voters."

On Immigration: AdWatch: Opposes amnesty to 12 million illegal immigrants

A GOP Senate candidate in Ohio released a campaign ad attacking President Biden's approach to the southern border, accusing him of caring more about illegal immigrants than struggling Americans.

Jane Timken is vowing to "be tough on illegal immigration."

"During the pandemic, Ohio's small businesses and families struggled to survive," Ms. Timken says in the ad. "What was Joe Biden's first legislative proposal--a liberal plan to give amnesty to 12 million illegal immigrants."

On Principles & Values: Advance the Trump agenda without fear or hesitation

With the backing of Donald Trump, Timken unseated Matt Borges for control of the Ohio Republican Party in January 2017. In her kick-off video, Timken touts her support of Trump and his America First agenda and pledged that as senator she'd "advance the Trump agenda without fear or hesitation." She told the Cincinnati Enquirer that she'd be happy to have Trump's endorsement.

On Principles & Values: Second Trump impeachment was unconstitutional and a sham

Q: After the Capitol riot, there were some Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, including Anthony Gonzalez, while others continue to support him. How are you navigating this tension?

Timken: I did disagree with Anthony Gonzalez's vote and have said that repeatedly. The second impeachment was unconstitutional and a sham, and I have called out Anthony Gonzalez on that issue, so I want to make that very clear.

On Principles & Values: I denounce QAnon, I don't agree with them

Q: Marjorie Taylor Greene has become a controversial figure thanks in part to her belief in QAnon. What do you make of her as well as the QAnon conspiracy theory?

Timken: Look, I denounce QAnon. I don't agree with them. But, you know, Marjorie Taylor Greene was elected duly, and she has the right to voice her opinions and represent her constituents.

On Principles & Values: Supports Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court

Jane Timken says Barrett is another "superb" nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, noting Barrett's time as a federal judge. "We all know the Supreme Court decisions in this country whether (they are) based on decisions about our constitutional rights or regulations that are important to businesses and our daily lives," says Timken. "That is motivating to voters. They want to see a Supreme Court that is going to interpret the law and support the constitution, not legislate from the bench."

On Principles & Values: My opponent should resign for voting to impeach Trump

[On Trump's second impeachment]: "It is clear Congressman Gonzalez' wrongful decision to vote with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to impeach President Trump has undermined his ability to effectively represent the people of the 16th district," Timken told Fox News. "Gonzalez should immediately resign so the Republican Party can unify behind new, conservative leadership for the 16th district."

On Principles & Values: We should be doubling down on faith at universities

I am outraged at the latest jaw-dropping move from Harvard that represents an attack on faith and religion in America. Harvard's new President of Chaplains is a devout atheist. At a time when young people are just embarking on their own independent journey, we should be doubling down on faith, not encouraging them to drift away from it.

My faith has been deeply important to me throughout my life. I am a proud Catholic, unabashedly pro-life, and rely on prayer to help navigate life's stormier waters. I believe that now, more than ever, our country should be leaning into faith, prayer, and religion to guide our leaders and fix the problems our world faces, not running away from it. These are the things that make America strong.

On Tax Reform: Taxes would stifle economy, destroy jobs, harm families

Benjamin Franklin famously said "in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes." I'd add one more to that list: that Democrats will raise your taxes. Though Ohioans have a little more time to file this year, April 15th is a yearly reminder of the frustrations that come with Tax Day and the government's constant hand in our families' cookie jars. Joe Biden is proposing a multitude of taxes that would stifle the economy, destroy jobs, and harm Ohio families.

On Tax Reform: Signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge opposing tax increases

Now more than ever, we need fewer taxes, less government intervention, and less regulation. As your U.S. Senator, that is what I will fight for. I will protect your pocketbooks by speaking out against radical spending and dangerous tax hikes. I am the only candidate in this race that has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, formally committing to oppose tax increases so that Ohio families can keep more of their hard-earned dollars out of the hands of the government.
