2022 OH Senate race: on War & Peace

Bernie Moreno: If you mess with the US, there'll be severe consequences

The recent attacks on our critical infrastructure have made it abundantly clear how the current Administration is failing to protect our Homeland. We need to put polices in place that proactively secure our critical infrastructure and make it clear to our adversaries that if they dare to mess with the United States, there will be severe consequences.

Bernie Moreno: Take any action necessary to prevent Iranian nukes

Iran's nuclear ambitions are a threat to the world and an existential threat to Israel. America cannot have a policy of appeasement toward Iran or allow them to even begin to get nuclear capabilities. I strongly opposed Obama's Iran Nuclear Deal and supported President Trump's withdrawal from it. We must not let a weak international community dictate America's posture toward Iran. We must be willing to take any action necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Josh Mandel: War in Iraq was just and for a good cause

[On his armed service record]: "Iraq has changed the way I see the world and painted a clearer picture of how the world sees me as an American," Mandel wrote as his first deployment came to an end. Describing the war as "just and for a good cause," Mandel expressed his hope that "the American people will be able to stomach the sacrifice required to accomplish this complicated mission of destroying terrorism and developing democracy."

Tim Ryan: Don't let Putin roll right through Ukraine

When asked how the U.S. should respond if Russian President Putin uses nuclear weapons against Ukraine, [Republican opponent J.D.] Vance said "nobody knows" what the best course of action would be. He went on to argue that foreign policy should put Americans first, and he believes the Biden administration hasn't done enough to deescalate the conflict.

Ryan called for a "swift and significant response" if that occurs and argued Vance is weak on Russia. The congressman also criticized his opponent for saying he doesn't "really care what happens to Ukraine."

"I've been to Parma," said Ryan, referring to the Cleveland suburb with a large Ukrainian-American population. "I've met with the refugees. I meet with the women and the daughters and sons because the husbands are in Ukraine fighting. That's the kind of freedom we need to support, and J.D. Vance would let Putin roll right through Ukraine."
