Mehmet Oz in 2022 PA Senate race

On Abortion: Knows how precious life is and is 100% Pro-Life

Dr. Oz is a successful heart surgeon--he has literally held a beating heart in his hands. He knows how precious life is and is 100% Pro-Life.

On Budget & Economy: President Biden's reckless spending has led to inflation

President Biden's reckless spending has led to inflation--increasing the price of everything from gas to groceries. His shutdowns and failed economic policies have disrupted our supply chains. And his reluctance to fully confront China and support energy independence has left us in a weak position. Dr. Oz believes that restoring America's economy begins by focusing on the problems we face here at home--and reversing Biden's failed agenda.

On Civil Rights: Did program on "curing" gays; later blogged it was harmful

In 2012, he aired a program that looked at "both sides" of reparative therapy, the harmful practice based on the discredited claim that gay people can be "cured" of their homosexuality. He subsequently said in a blog post that he thought that the form of psychological torture was "harmful," but he never said as much on the more widely watched show.

On Drugs: Cannabis safer than alcohol & safer than narcotics

Oz, who previously asserted that marijuana could represent a tool to combat the opioid epidemic and has made other public comments about the plant's therapeutic potential, said "I'm hoping the federal government at some point--someone's going to say, 'come on, this is a farce, open it up for the entire country.' That way, the right people can begin to prescribe it."

"We ought to completely change our policy on marijuana. It absolutely works. Now I've seen this helping people with sleep issues, with pain issues for sure, and a lot of people who have serious medical problems getting relief--and here's the thing, you can't die from it. I'm unaware of any case when anyone has overdosed."

"It's a lot safer than alcohol. It's safer than narcotics. It ought to be used more widely and we can't even study it that easily because of the way it's regulated," he said.

On Drugs: Marijuana not gateway to narcotics, may be the exit drug

Opponents of legalizing marijuana have long claimed that it is a "gateway drug" that leads to use of other substances. But one of the country's most famous physicians says the opposite might be true. "The real story is the hypocrisy around medical marijuana," Mehmet Oz -- better known as Dr. Oz -- said in an appearance on Fox News. "People think it's a gateway drug to narcotics. It may be the exit drug to get us out of the narcotic epidemic."

On Education: Extreme left indoctrinating kids with anti-American ideology

Dr. Oz believes that a good education is fundamental to a better future. But he believes we need to fundamentally change the way we approach education in this country-- by incorporating financial literacy from an early age, focusing on empowering students to make their own career choices, and stopping wealthy universities from raising tuition every year while sitting on millions of dollars in tax-protected endowments.

Dr. Oz believes that the extreme left wants to use our schools to indoctrinate our children with an anti-American ideology --and as Senator he'll fight to block that from happening.

On Education: Will fight for more school choice for all Americans

Whether it is modernizing health care so it's more affordable and accessible, fighting for more school choice for all Americans, protecting us by securing our borders and stopping illegal immigration, telling the truth about corporate America like how pharmaceutical companies charge too much for prescription drugs, or making sure people know the truth about COVID, Dr. Oz is fundamentally promising to help re-light the "divine spark" inside every American and empower us to live better lives.

On Energy & Oil: I believe in energy independence, don't beg other countries

I believe in energy independence. That's a big deal here in Pennsylvania, but we don't as a nation want to be begging other countries like we're starting to do to change what they're doing with energy because, you know, we're in hock.

On Energy & Oil: Supports fracking, will make us safer and create jobs

Dr. Mehmet Oz pushed back. "The ground under Pennsylvania and surrounding states has almost as much natural gas as Saudi Arabia that is readily accessible through fracking. We should be using this to make our nation safer, create jobs, and less dependent on China. As the Senator for Pennsylvania, I will fight against any effort to destroy Pennsylvania's energy leadership and the jobs it supports."

On Free Trade: We need to focus on creating jobs here in America

Dr. Oz believes the United States has failed to respond to the global Chinese threat. Every year we see more and more companies ship American jobs overseas, while failing to stand up to China as they steal our intellectual property and manipulate their currency. Dr. Oz believes we need to focus on creating jobs here in America and rebuilding our supply chain so we can better respond to crises like COVID without relying on the Chinese for things like PPE or other critical infrastructure.

On Government Reform: Government that can give you everything can take it all away

I'll tell you one thing for sure, any government that's large enough to give you everything is powerful enough to take it all away. So I don't want that. I want liberty and freedom and that to me means limited government. We can do it better than folks very far away from us who don't know our local problems. The more we can be local, the more we can trust the people in our communities, the better off we are.

On Gun Control: Supported "red flag laws" on his television show

Oz has voiced support for "red flag" laws. "Part of the hope, I gather, is that we'll make a system so that I can call in and say 'There's evidence besides my testimony that this person is dangerous. Look at their Facebook feed or social media postings. Or comments they've made to coworkers beside me. Do a little investigating. I'm alerting you, putting a little red flag up there saying this person is a concern,'" Oz told the audience on a previous episode of his show.

On Gun Control: Proud gun owner, firm believer in Second Amendment

[On gun rights]: "As a proud gun owner myself, I'm a firm believer in the Second Amendment and our constitutional right to bear arms for protection. I do not believe there should be any policy or law, state or federal, that prevents a law-abiding American from purchasing a gun without due process and fair adjudication," Oz said. Oz does not include gun violence or the Second Amendment on the list of issues on his website.

On Health Care: Elites fighting COVID pandemic took away our freedom

Covid-19 became an excuse for government and elite thinkers who controlled the means of communication, especially social media and our major news agencies, to suspend debate. Doctors were forbidden from prescribing legal medications for the first time in our nation's history. I tried to fund clinical trials to re-purpose an already widely used drug for possible benefits against Covid-19, but they were banned. Instead, government mandated policies that caused unnecessary suffering.

We were told to docilely lock down and let those in charge take care of the rest. When we tested positive for the virus, we were also told to wait at home until we got sick enough to warrant hospitalization.not a typical medical protocol. Elites with yards told those without yards to stay inside--where the virus was more likely to spread. And the arrogant, closed-minded people in charge closed our schools, shut down our businesses and took away our freedom.

On Health Care: Expand access to private sector plans for prescription drugs

As a doctor, Oz has seen the inside of the massive health-care industrial complex. He's bravely argued against costly drugs, even as it made him a target of drug companies. As a U.S. Senator, he'll work to dismantle policies that lead to more expensive prescription drugs for our seniors, and he'll expand access to private sector plans expanded by President Trump and beloved by seniors for their low costs and high quality that could be available to all Americans who want them.

On Health Care: Criticized for promoting dubious cures on his TV show

He was hawking "miracle" weight loss drugs. There was green coffee extract: "You may think magic is make-believe, but this little bean has scientists saying they've found the magic weight-loss cure for every body type." And raspberry ketones: "the No. 1 miracle in a bottle to burn your fat." He also touted umckaloabo root extract as a cure for cold symptoms (it doesn't work), and lavender soap for leg cramps (don't bother). A 2014 study by Canadian researchers found that only 46 percent of the advice dispensed on the Dr. Oz show was based on science. The following year 1000 physicians signed a letter calling upon Oz to resign from the Columbia faculty. "He's a quack and a fake and a charlatan," wrote Dr. Henry Miller of Stanford.

On Immigration: We need to have a secure border with a barrier to protect us

Dr. Oz believes that one of the core responsibilities of the federal government is to protect you. In order to do that, we need to have a secure border with a barrier--whether that is a physical wall or one patrolled by technological advances.

On Immigration: We're subsidizing cartels involved in human trafficking

Immigration is a big problem for a couple of reasons. We're subsidizing cartels involved in human trafficking. They're bringing opiates across the border but lots of other issues as well. President Trump was right. People should wait on the Mexican side of the border to coming across illegally, let's deal with all the issues there and not put law enforcement in an impossible predicament where they are forced to chase them down when we know they're not coming back for their follow-up visits.

On Principles & Values: Immigrant father loved US; saw deep darkness of alternatives

Dr. Oz has never shied away from telling his patients and audience that you are the key to solving many of your problems. He's taking his message of empowerment, personal responsibility, and freedom with him to campaign for the U.S. Senate to represent the people of Pennsylvania. Dr. Oz has seen first hand the goal of the liberal elites and establishment--to make your life decisions for you--and cancel you if you disagree.

Growing up as an immigrant's kid, I witnessed my family's sacrifices to thrive in the USA. My father grew up dirt poor (literally sleeping on a dirt floor) and loved this country as much as anyone already here because he saw the deep darkness of the alternatives. I built on these formidable lessons.

On Principles & Values: We need to expand the role of religious institutions

Dr. Oz has given back--he founded HealthCorps which provides health education and mentoring to underserved communities. Dr. Oz also believes that we need to expand the role of religious institutions, non-profits, and community groups in providing support for stronger families and neighborhoods. That's how we combat our underlying emotional sickness that leads to Opioid addiction and isolation.

On Tax Reform: I believe in capitalism which means lower taxes, regulations

I believe in capitalism, which means lower taxes and regulations, so people can really compete, and I respect the Constitution, a brilliantly written document that I think should be honored on the bench, and sometimes isn't. We have free market solutions that work.

On War & Peace: For leaving Afghanistan but Biden surrendered to Taliban

Dr. Oz trained at the Philadelphia VA hospital and worked with veterans--he has seen first-hand the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform. While he supported leaving Afghanistan, he strongly opposed the way President Biden surrendered to the Taliban and the tragedy that ensued with our soldiers.

On Principles & Values: We cannot move on from 2020 election, but Biden is President

Pennsylvania Republican nominee Mehmet Oz has very vaguely raised doubts about the 2020 election--declaring during the 2022 primary that "there are so many different things that happened" and saying "we cannot move on."

Asked in March 2022 if Biden legitimately won Pennsylvania in 2020 (Biden did, by more than 80,000 votes), and if there was fraud (there was only a tiny amount of known fraud in Pennsylvania, some of it committed by Trump supporters), Oz ignored the first question and said, "Oh, there was definitely fraud." When the host asked Oz once more if he believes Biden legitimately won Pennsylvania, Oz dodged again and said: "He's the President."

Oz has said, however, that he would have certified the election if he had been in the Senate on January 6, 2021, explaining that it isn't a senator's job at that point to question states' decisions.)
