Sean Parnell in 2022 PA Senate race

On Families & Children: Denies wife's claim of physical and verbal abuse

The estranged wife of Parnell testified that he choked her until she bit him to escape, that he hit their young children, and that he lashed out at her with obscenities and insults. In tearful testimony, Laurie Snell told a family court judge that her husband once called her a "whore" and a "piece of s--" while pinning her down. In a statement released by his campaign, Parnell, vigorously disputed his wife's claims, calling a number of them "lies."

On Government Reform: Filed lawsuit against no-excuse mail-in ballot system

Another issue likely in this campaign--Parnell's lawsuit claiming the state's no-excuse mail-in ballot system, used by over 2 million Pennsylvanians, is unconstitutional.

Q: Do you think the election in Pennsylvania in 2020 was fair and an accurate result with respect to all the races on the ballot?

Parnell: Well, I'll tell you. I don't. I'm not going to relitigate 2020. Like I told you before, I'm focused on 2022. But I will say regarding the lawsuit I filed on Act 77, I stand by it.

On Immigration: 30,000 refugees from Afghanistan is irresponsible

Accepting Afghan refugees is the latest issue dividing Pennsylvania Republicans. How the debate unfolds will help show whether the GOP continues to follow the direction of former President Trump or take another course. Some Republicans are urging President Biden to put on the brakes, arguing that the refugees can't be sufficiently vetted. Other Republicans are emphasizing the need to welcome those who risked their lives to help American troops.

"We cannot bring 30,000 unvetted Afghan refugees to the United States of America. It's an irresponsible policy and quite frankly I can't believe we even have to have this conversation," Sean Parnell told Tucker Carlson.

Craig Snyder said Parnell was "ignoring the history of how Jewish refugees from the Holocaust, Cuban refugees from Castro, Vietnamese refugees from communism," and others have "proven to be among the most loyal and contributing Americans." Snyder called Parnell's remarks "an assault on American goodness."
