2022 PA Senate race: on Technology

Jeff Bartos: Rein in Big Tech--but owns stock in Google and Apple

[On tech giants]: "From shadow-banning conservatives, censoring content online, biased fact-checking, and now funneling millions of dollars into our elections it's become clearer than ever: Big Tech must be reined in," Bartos wrote on Twitter. But he and his wife also were investing in Alphabet Inc., which owns Google, and Apple. "As a shareholder, who owns stock, I believe that the company needs to change for the better." He added that it's the "duty" of shareholders to lodge such criticisms.

Kathy Barnette: Break up monopolies colluding to censor unwanted speech

We have seen Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Assembly, Freedom to Petition and Freedom of the Press all come under assault. From the rise of big tech monopolies colluding with the government and the media to censor unwanted speech, to the demonizing of associations of particular groups of people. We need leaders who understand the threat and who are willing to take decisive action in breaking up these monopolies and holding our elected officials and bureaucrats accountable.

Sharif Street: Continue to invest in electric vehicle infrastructure

The clean energy sector is rapidly growing in Pennsylvania, allowing for the creation of thousands of jobs. We must continue to invest in electric vehicle infrastructure, specifically fast-charging highway stations, electric-fleet vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Sharif believes these investments would decidedly ensure a safer and cleaner environment for all Pennsylvanians and make an indelible impact on public health.

John Fetterman: Invest in rural broadband & infrastructure

I'll fight for farmers' rights to repair their own equipment and take on Big Ag so Pennsylvania's small farmers can have a fair shot; this includes fighting for improved grant and loan opportunities for farmers of color. I'll also make sure that long-promised investments in rural broadband and other critical infrastructure make their way to where they're actually needed, because in this day and age, broadband internet access is almost as fundamental as electricity or running water.
