Survey of 2022 Senate campaign websites: on Social Security

Alex Lasry: Expand Medicare to cover vision, hearing, and dental

But we can't stop there. Healthcare simply costs too much, especially for seniors. Even as they are covered by Medicare, Wisconsin seniors are getting nickeled and dimed by rising out of pocket costs. That's why I support adding vision, hearing and dental coverage to Medicare, and why I support allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription costs.

Cindy Axne: Stop cuts to benefits for current and future retirees

Cindy will fight to make sure that every senior can retire with dignity. Cindy believes that Social Security and Medicare are promises we made to our seniors who worked hard and earned these benefits. Cindy will fight in Washington to stop attempts to cut benefits for current and future retirees and attempts to privatize Medicare and Social Security.

James Vandermaas: We paid into Social Security, we are actually entitled to it

We have paid into these programs for our entire working lives and deserve to reap the benefits that we are due. Do not buy the nonsense that these programs are 'entitlements', but rather are programs that we paid in to, and actually are entitled to! Most of the problems with Social Security are because Congress "borrowed" trillions of dollars in IOU's from our Social Security and Medicare, with no apparent plan to pay it back.

Jim Lamon: Give workers the option of Universal Savings Accounts

Michael Franken: Make all earnings subject to the Social Security tax

Currently, workers and the self-employed are required to make a Social Security contribution only on the first $147,000 of earnings. We need to make all earnings subject to the Social Security tax. Removing that earnings cap will increase revenue and bring greater fairness to the system.

Michael J. Steele: Save Social Security & Medicare by raising corporate taxes

I believe we could save Social Security and Medicare by raising the corporate tax rate by 32 percent and offer free healthcare.

Trudy Busch Valentine: Won't support cutting benefits, raising retirement age

Republicans have said aloud that they want to cut Medicare benefits and privatize Social Security. Trudy knows that this is a direct insult to millions of Americans who have worked hard all their lives under the belief that their futures would be secured through these benefits. Trudy will tirelessly stand up against these cowardly attacks on Medicare and Social Security. Trudy will never support cutting a single dollar from these benefits or raising the retirement age by a single day.

Will Boyd: Oppose privatization of Social Security; protect benefits

John Fetterman: American bargain is the ability to retire with dignity

At the heart of the basic American bargain is the ability to retire with dignity. For so many seniors, Social Security checks don't go nearly as far as they used to. Too often, after spending most of their adult lives working, seniors find themselves choosing between food, medication, and other basic needs. This is unacceptable.

In the Senate, I will fight to protect Social Security from Republican attacks, and I'll support efforts to lower the Medicare eligibility age to 60 while expanding its benefits to include vision, hearing, and dental care. I'll also work to pass the Better Care Better Jobs Act to ensure that we're making necessary investments in home- and community-based services like home health care, personal care, case management, and rehabilitative services. We have a responsibility to do right by the generations that came before us. When I'm your senator, I'll make that my mission.
