Survey of 2022 Senate campaign websites: on War & Peace

Bernie Moreno: If you mess with the US, there'll be severe consequences

The recent attacks on our critical infrastructure have made it abundantly clear how the current Administration is failing to protect our Homeland. We need to put polices in place that proactively secure our critical infrastructure and make it clear to our adversaries that if they dare to mess with the United States, there will be severe consequences.

Bernie Moreno: Take any action necessary to prevent Iranian nukes

Iran's nuclear ambitions are a threat to the world and an existential threat to Israel. America cannot have a policy of appeasement toward Iran or allow them to even begin to get nuclear capabilities. I strongly opposed Obama's Iran Nuclear Deal and supported President Trump's withdrawal from it. We must not let a weak international community dictate America's posture toward Iran. We must be willing to take any action necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Jane Timken: Biden should resign, or be impeached, for Afghan withdrawal

Timken released the following statement: "This is a sad day for America and the direct result of Joe Biden's weakness and reckless failure to secure the ground and get all of our American citizens, Afghan allies, and brave troops out. Biden has completely abdicated his duties as President and Commander in Chief. He has allowed foreign adversaries to dictate conditions. Biden must resign immediately. If he doesn't, he should be impeached and removed from office without delay."

Jim Lamon: Congress should have a say in the decision to go to war

As a veteran, I know that the choosing to send our troops to war is a weighty one. The ability for Congress to oversee matters of war and peace has been steadily eroding over time. I believe that Congress should have a say in the decision to go to war and stay at war. This will hold members of Congress responsible for the endless amounts of troops and money we send and spend every time we enter a conflict.

Joe O`Dea: When America shows weakness, the world is less safe

Reckless decisions from left-wing politicians are making the world more dangerous. What happened in Afghanistan is an outrage and a foreign policy blunder of epic proportions. Overseas, we are caving to extremists, authoritarians, and communist governments everywhere: The Taliban. Russia. China. Iran. We aren't listening to our military and other people on the ground. And when America shows weakness, the world is less safe.

Mark Meuser: Foreign policy weakness allowed Russian invasion of Ukraine

President Biden March 26 speech in Poland: "Ukraine and its people are on the frontlines fighting to save their nation. And their brave resistance is part of a larger fight for an essential democratic principles that unite all free people: the rule of law; free and fair elections; the freedom to speak, to write, and to assemble; the freedom to worship as one chooses; freedom of the press.

[Meuser's reply]: Dear Brandon,

Just writing you a quick note. Words have meaning. When you express concern that arming a "Resistance" in Ukraine could have consequences, you are using the wrong term. The government of Ukraine and its military is not a "Resistance." They are defending themselves from an invasion. By referring to a "Resistance," you signal your belief that the Russians have already won.

Your foreign policy weakness encouraged Russia to attack Ukraine. Your use of the wrong terms will only encourage them more.

Signed,

Someone Who Doesn't Like Unnecessary Wars

Mehmet Oz: For leaving Afghanistan but Biden surrendered to Taliban

Dr. Oz trained at the Philadelphia VA hospital and worked with veterans--he has seen first-hand the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform. While he supported leaving Afghanistan, he strongly opposed the way President Biden surrendered to the Taliban and the tragedy that ensued with our soldiers.

Mike Durant: Held as POW in Somalia when his Blackhawk was shot down

On October 3rd, 1993, during combat in Mogadishu Somalia, "Super Six Four," the Blackhawk helicopter flown by Mike Durant, was hit by an RPG and crashed in the city. Mike Durant somehow survived, was captured and held as a POW by Somali General Mohamed Farrah Aidid.

Mike has seen sacrifice--fellow service members who put honor, country, and mission above all else. He knows firsthand that the United States leaves no one behind.

Mike Durant: Should have declared victory in Afghanistan

Mike Durant was disgusted by Biden's exit from Afghanistan. He believes that we should have declared victory in Afghanistan years ago, and then helped the Afghan government transition to a stable regime that did not need U.S. troop involvement, but rather protected our geopolitical interests in the region.

Rick Becker: Stop wasting lives and resources on endless wars

The United States is a nation in debt. We have no right to send the earnings of hard-working Americans overseas in the form of foreign aid--especially to nations hostile to our own.

President Trump had it right--we need to stop letting other countries take advantage of us. We need to stop wasting precious lives and resources on endless wars.

John Fetterman: Forever wars line the pockets of defense contractors

In order for America to be a force for good in the world, I believe that America must first be strong at home. This means no longer embarking on forever wars, investing in communities instead of lining the pockets of defense contractors, and partnering with our allies abroad to promote more stability around the world. I've been so proud to watch the world rally against Russia's attack on Ukraine--an attack on democracy itself.

In Washington, I will prioritize keeping America safe through strengthening our diplomatic efforts and investing in effective foreign aid programs while also ensuring that the best military in the world remains strong and prepared. I will also work to guarantee that we don't allow China to out-innovate us. There is no reason that the next generation of technology--from defense to clean energy to the microchips that power our cell phones--can't be manufactured right here in the Commonwealth. A competitive edge is the key to real and lasting national security.
