On Abortion:
Americans want to restrict abortion with right exceptions
Now, that's a debate we're going to have as a country. But the fact is that, unless we have supermajorities in each of the houses, we're going to keep this issue in the states. I have said and I believe the American people are supportive of restrictions
on abortion with the right exceptions in there. And that's why I have advocated for rape, incest, life of the mother. This is where I think the American people are. And it's a debate that's going to take place in both places.

On Abortion:
Have to do better in child birth care and adoption services
I think it's important that we restrict abortions to save the lives of the unborn. I do think there has to be reasonable exceptions such as the life of the mother, and in cases of rape and incest. I think there's broad agreement in America on that.
And we also have to make sure that we provide for the maternal care. We have to do better in our child birth care and adoption services.

On Budget & Economy:
I plan to reduce federal civilian employment by 10%
Whenever you look at reducing the size of the federal government and controlling spending, I presented the idea, the plan to reduce federal civilian employment by 10%. I can do that because we reduced it by 14% in Arkansas. And so these are specific
plans that I present, and it's about the future. It's about the strength of America. It's about our leadership. So no, it's not about the past. It's about the future. And I think that resonates.

On Corporations:
Not government's role to punish business for their views
I don't like what Disney said about the legislation that I would have supported in Florida, but it's not the role of government to punish a business when you disagree with what they're saying or a position that they take.
If that was the view of a Republican, then we're going to be in all kinds of trouble in our businesses in blue states if they start punishing businesses for taking a more conservative speech or position.

On Corporations:
Punishing business for exercising speech is heavy-handed
However you describe it, it appears to me that the governor did not like what Disney was doing in terms of what they were saying and exercising speech so they're being punished. But I think it is important that we make sure that we don't become
heavy- handed in government to punish those that are creating jobs for Americans and creating income and growing the private sector. That's not what Republicanism is about. That's not what a conservative is about.

Promise to pardon Trump undermines the rule of law
Q: You just heard Vivek Ramaswamy say that he would pardon Donald Trump on his first day in office.HUTCHINSON: It's just wrong, and it shouldn't happen that way.
If you start down that path, it is unending. That really undermines the rule of law in our country that I have served my lifetime supporting. And it's offensive to me that anyone would be holding out a pardon under these circumstances.

On Crime:
Don't erode confidence in our entire criminal justice system
The important thing is that the grand jury found probable cause. And that's the standard for any criminal charges in our society. And the presumption of innocence follows you. And then there's a trial. And the termination of guilt or innocence.
That's the American system. We don't want to erode confidence in our entire criminal justice system simply because we don't like the beginning parts of the case.

On Families & Children:
Don't want government interfering with parental decisions
And so, we don't want the government telling parents when they can have vaccines for their children and not have vaccines or have to have vaccines for children. We fight for the role of parents. And so, a conservative position, you always
are debating and think about, is this the right role of government to interfere with parental decisions? I came down on a limited fashion and said parents have an important role to play here.

On Government Reform:
Supreme Court needs to be transparent on reporting rules
The Court needs to be transparent. They need to be clear on what their reporting rules are. They need to review those to make sure they're very similar to the other public officials and branches of government, which has broad reporting requirements.
Clearly, they have not been sufficient. They've changed those. But I think they need this step so the American people understand what the rules are, and what is required, and is similar to other public officials.

On Immigration:
Pass border security first, then immigration reform
We have always tried before to pass border security with comprehensive immigration reform. We have to do simply a straightforward border security bill. That should be able to get through Congress in a bipartisan way that puts more resources for the
Border Patrol for our immigration processing, for the security of our country. And that builds faith with the American public that we can have more comprehensive reform once we secure the border itself.

On Principles & Values:
Put the office of presidency and our country above yourself
You should put the office of presidency and our country above yourself. And whenever you've got these serious allegations against you, it's not fair to the country and certainly it's not fair to the party that wants to get this country back on track.
And so, to me, that is the high-level consideration the candidates should give to the important office of president in making that decision for the country's interest.

On Civil Rights:
Move beyond race-based admissions; fight identity politics
After the historic Supreme Court decision rolling back the use of affirmative action in college admissions, Arkansas politicians and lawmakers gave their reactions. The court's 6-3 decision along ideological lines struck down affirmative action in
college admissions.Former two-term Arkansas governor and candidate for Republican presidential nomination Asa Hutchinson had his reaction in support of the decision up not long after the morning announcement of the decision. "The recent Supreme Court
ruling strikes a blow against identity politics. It's time to move beyond race-based admissions. Colleges are supporting diversity by reducing legacy preferences and increasing financial aid," Hutchinson stated.
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders
invoked Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.: "People should be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin. The Supreme Court affirmed that fundamental truth in today's decision."

Shouldn't promise pardons during presidential campaign
Q: Should Trump be pardoned for the good of the country, as Ambassador Haley suggested?HUTCHINSON: No. First of all, that should not be any discussion during a presidential campaign. You don't put pardons out there to garner votes. That is premature.
Obviously, if there's a conviction--
Q: You think that's what she's doing?
HUTCHINSON: Well, I think that anybody who promises pardons during the presidential campaign is not serving our system of justice well and it's inappropriate.

On Drugs:
Use economic pressure on Mexico to fight against fentanyl
The key is Mexico, because that's where the precursor chemicals are going. The cartels have it; they're making the fentanyl at the labs there. And Mexico can control both of those.
We need greater support from Mexico, we need to use our economic pressure against Mexico so that they will cooperate with us to a greater extent in fighting fentanyl.
