On Abortion:
I'd like to see Mifepristone taken off the market
I'm pro life. I don't apologize for it. I think the fact the Biden administration allowed Mifepristone to be made available on a mail order basis was a fundamental change. Even in states that have limited abortion.
I'd like to see this medication off the market to protect the unborn. But also, I have deep concerns about the way the FDA went about approving Mifepristone 20 years ago.

On Crime:
Radical left responsible for NYC prosecution of Trump
I'm taken aback at the idea of indicting a former president of the United States at a time when there's a crime wave in New York City, the fact that the Manhattan D.A. thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority
I think just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country. It just feels like a politically charged prosecution here. For my part, I just feel like it's just not what the American people want to see.

On Education:
There was racial inequity in education system; no longer
Q: You do not believe there is racial inequity in the education system in America?PENCE: I really don't believe there is. I believe there was. There may have been a time when affirmative action was necessary simply to open the doors of all of
our schools and universities, but I think that time has passed. I really believe that the accomplishments of America's students, particularly our minority students, tells us that we've opened those doors and I'm confident those doors will remain open.

Russia military conduct isn't just warfare; it's evil
I do know the difference between a genius and a war criminal, and Vladimir Putin's unconscionable and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine was an act of naked aggression. And I was literally on the streets of the city where more than 500 civilians were gunned
down by the Russian military. I mean, the Russian military's conduct, on an ongoing basis, it's not just about warfare. It's evil. And I think that's another reason why we must continue to provide the Ukrainian military with what they need.

On Gun Control:
Recent gun tragedies reflect fear of crime wave
Tragedy should not require us to forfeit our liberty. And the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is enshrined in the Constitution of the United States. I don't know the facts of those cases. I'm confident that local law enforcement
will move forward and apply the law in a proper way. But I can't help but suspect that this recent spate of tragedies is evidence of the fear that so many Americans are feeling about the crime wave besetting this country.

I'm a Bible-believing Christian
In Lorie Smith's case, she made it clear she would take all customers in her website design, she just simply said that she could not create a website that would celebrate something that violated her religious beliefs. I'm a Bible-believing Christian.
I believe that every American is entitled to live, to work, to worship according to the dictates of their conscience. I'm so grateful that a strong majority of the court gave a victory for the religious freedom of every American of every faith.

America is the leader of the free world
I went to Ukraine because America is the leader of the free world. We're the arsenal of democracy. I think President Joe Biden has truly failed to explain to the American people what our national interest is there.
I'm someone that believes that it's absolutely essential that the United States continue to provide military support to the Ukrainian military to push back on Russian aggression.

United States is the gold standard of justice in the world
I have to tell you, as someone that has represented the United States on the world stage, as someone who was on the International Relations Committee for ten years, we're the gold standard of justice in the world. And to see a former president of the
United States be subject to an indictment by the administration of the current president, that he may well be facing again in the future, that sends a terrible message to the wider world.

On Social Security:
Let younger Americans invest a portion of their payroll tax
I think they're ready for a serious conversation that says, "Look, we can preserve and protect Social Security and Medicare for people that are in retirement and who will retire in the next 25 years." To turn us away from that debt crisis that
they're facing, we've got to bring forward common sense and compassion reforms. I think all these issues for younger Americans are on the table, including allowing younger Americans to invest a portion of their payroll tax in a personal savings account.

On Abortion:
Err on the side of life to give unborn child every chance
In cases like an ectopic pregnancy, where the child simply cannot survive, I would assume that that would be covered by the life-of-the-mother exception. But in cases where it is simply the subjective judgment of a physician or a percentage potential,
I always want to err on the side of life. I want to give that unborn child every chance at life. So I always want to err on the side of life, but I always want to recognize exceptions in tragic circumstances.

On Education:
Student loan forgiveness not about helping the middle class
The majority of people that would have benefited from this student loan forgiveness are people with multiple graduate degrees. So you're going to say to working Americans, to truck drivers, to people working in the
trades, 'we're going to take your taxes and pay down a part of the student debt of doctors and lawyers and Ph.D.s.' It's just- it, nothing could be further than the truth. This was not about the middle class.

This is all about America being the leader of the free world
I think giving the Ukrainians what they need to repel the Russian invasion, I think is the best way to send a message to China that America is the leader of the free world, and we're not going to tolerate either Russia or China, should they attempt
to do so, to redraw international lines by force. This is all about America being the leader of the free world. And, if I'm president of the United States, we're going to lead from American strength.

Arming Ukraine sends a deafening message to communist China
I think there's no more effective way to send a deafening message to communist China to check their military ambitions in the Asia Pacific, then by giving Ukraine what they need to repel the Russian invasion. I know China's watching.
They forge this unlimited partnership with- with Russia, but I gotta note, I've met President Xi, I've also met President Putin. I guarantee you President Xi is watching what's happening in Ukraine very carefully.

Going to clean house among senior leadership at DOJ
I heard again and again from people about a deep concern about unequal treatment of the law. And it's why I said to people, if I'm elected president of the United States, we're not just going to have a new attorney general.
We're going to clean house among all the senior leadership at the Justice Department. And we're going to appoint men and women of integrity who will have the confidence of Americans across the political spectrum for their commitment to the rule of law.

The freedom of religion is our first freedom
I would say to every American that the freedom of religion is our first freedom, that's enshrined in the First Amendment for a reason. And from the moment the Supreme Court recognized same-sex marriage, the court had made a commitment that as they
move forward on that decision, that they would still respect the freedom of religion and the freedom of conscience of every American. I believe that every American is entitled to live, to work, to worship according to the dictates of their conscience.

We all face the judgment of history, as will Trump
Q: You said that history will hold Donald Trump accountable. How?PENCE: Well, we all face the judgment of history. And I believe, in the fullness of time, that history will hold Donald Trump accountable for the events of January 6th. I also think the
American people will also have their say.
Q: Trump said in response to what you've said recently about January 6th that it was your fault. That if you had done what he was asking you to do, throwing out those electoral votes, you wouldn't have had a
January 6th as we know it.
PENCE: Well, I know one of the attorneys that was advising the president said the same thing in a text on January the 6th.
Q: Yes, John Eastman.
PENCE: But his attorneys were wrong and President Trump is wrong.
I know by God's grace we did our duty that day, to act out the expressed language of the Constitution of the United States. States control elections. Once states send electoral votes to the Congress, the only role the Congress has is to open and count.
