2023 KY Governor's race: on Government Reform

Kelly Craft: Government shouldn't get in the way of our success

Al Cross, director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky, said Craft's campaign rollout shows she's getting plenty of professional help by her campaign staff, but there's no clarity yet on where she stands on issues like abortion or inflation. Instead, in her first campaign ad, Craft said she believes "government shouldn't get in the way of our success."

Mike Harmon: Some key controls taken off in 2020 election

Mike Harmon gave a more than 140-word response when first asked if Biden won fairly. Harmon later said some key election-related "controls were taken off" but said he couldn't "make an assessment one way or the other." Harmon said he wished there wasn't an attack on the Capitol, but also pointed to the damage and destruction of property during police-related protests, saying there's a lack of attention to that.

Daniel Cameron: Opposed bill expanding voting rights protections

In March 2021, Cameron signed on to a letter from Republican state attorneys general urging Congress not to pass the For the People Act, a bill that would have expanded voting rights protections. The bill passed in the House but was filibustered in the Senate. That August, he joined an amicus brief in support of a challenged Georgia law that made it harder to vote by mail and illegal to give water or food to citizens waiting in line to vote.
