2023 MS Governor's race: on Health Care

Brandon Presley: Supports expanding Medicaid to provide health care coverage

Four years later there's a new Democratic nominee, but the emerging issues feel the same going into the 2023 election. Democrat Brandon Presley supports expanding Medicaid to provide health care coverage for primarily the working poor, supports eliminating the state's sales tax on groceries and champions fully funding public education.

Tate Reeves: Vetoed bill requiring private insurance to be "equitable"

Today, I vetoed two bills that had the potential to seriously increase the cost of health care in Mississippi. The first one would basically give the Insurance Commission the ability to set rates for all health insurance. They can massively fine private insurance if they aren't "equitable" enough. It's not what you expect in Mississippi, but that's why we read every bill closely!
