Adam Schiff in 2024 CA Senate race
On Civil Rights:
Introduced PERIOD Act to protect trans student athletes
Necessitated by Republican legislators' invasion of students' privacy to enforce anti-trans and anti-choice laws, Schiff and Ilhan Omar will introduce the Privacy in Education Regarding Individuals' Own Data (PERIOD) Act. Allies close to Florida Gov.
Ron DeSantis have proposed tracking student athletes' menstrual cycles, which Schiff characterized as "a not-at-all disguised effort to discriminate against trans students" that would be "incredibly invasive of students' private medical data."

On Energy & Oil:
I was an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal
With so much at stake, when the Green New Deal was introduced, I was an original co-sponsor. And I want to tell you why.
The Green New Deal is not just a bold plan for addressing climate change and beginning to right the ship, it also is an urgent call to invest in growing a modern, green economy that is equitable and just for all.

On Government Reform:
Need to pass historic voting rights protection legislation
First, we need to pass historic voting rights protection legislation--H.R. 1, the For the People Act, and H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Second, we must pass my landmark reform package, The Protecting our Democracy Act.
It's an ambitious set of reforms that would enshrine our democratic guardrails into law. No longer a suggestion. But law. We must ensure that no future president can do the kind of damage Trump has done--ever again.

On Gun Control:
Better & faster data tracking gun trafficking
Rep. Schiff introduced legislation to provide data to help crack down on illegal guns and firearm dealers and solve violent crime. The "ATF Data and Anti-Trafficking Accountability Act" would require an annual report on gun trafficking, [including]
detailed analyses of what types of illegal firearms are being recovered, which dealers and geographical regions they’re being recovered from, what crimes they’re being used in, and how they’re being purchased and diverted into the illegal market.
"America's gun violence crisis is compounded by the thousands of firearms that find their way illegally into the hands of violent criminals or those who are not able to lawfully acquire them. Law enforcement and policymakers are fighting back
against gun trafficking, but our efforts are hampered by a lack of access to good data," said Schiff. "This bill will help develop comprehensive, critical, and up-to-date data about where these guns are coming from and where they are going."

On Tax Reform:
We need to ensure that the wealthy pay their fair share
We need to ensure that the wealthy pay their fair share. Let's face it--corporations or billionaires should never, ever, pay less taxes than a construction worker. And in our present tax system, that happens. And it's wrong. We must level the playing
field. While Republicans continue to protect a tax system that rewards wealth and punishes working families, Democrats are passing legislation to make the economy work for everyone and help people get back on their feet.

On Drugs:
End criminalization of marijuana; expunge convictions
NORML Politician Info: rated A- - Comments: "I just voted to end federal criminalization of marijuana, and allow expungement of many convictions. For too long, prosecution of minor marijuana offenses led to
disproportionate incarceration of Black and brown communities. Decriminalization makes our justice system more fair." (12/4/20)
- "As more states, including California, legalize and regulate marijuana, both for medicinal and recreational use, turning
back the clock on federal enforcement is a waste of limited resources. With a nationwide opioid epidemic and innumerable other priorities, busting legal marijuana sellers and medicinal dispensaries is wasteful and destructive.
Whatever happened to their states' rights creed?" [in response to recindance of Cole Memo, 1/4/18]

On Budget & Economy:
Increase housing federal investments and tax credits
We must attack the increased cost of goods in each sector of our economy by addressing scarcity: Dramatically expanding our supply of affordable housing by increasing housing federal investments and tax credits,
boosting the production of renewable sources of energy, expanding the number of healthcare professionals, and increasing the supply of affordable childcare.
