Chris Christie: We do need to look at means-testing of Social Security

I think we do need to look at means-testing of Social Security. Now I'm not talking about if you've got a few hundred thousand dollars put away or less. Is Mark Zuckerberg not going to make ends meet without the Social Security check? We have to start talking about it, because if we don't, in 2034, there's going to be an automatic 24% cut in everybody's benefits. And for a lot of people that will mean they can't pay their rent or they can't buy food and we can't have that.

Mike Pence: Reform could include investing taxes in a mutual fund

Every time the American people have been given commonsense and compassionate reforms -- it could be a change in the age of eligibility, but it also could include letting younger Americans invest a portion of their payroll taxes in a mutual fund, like the TSP program that 10 million federal employees are in today. We could literally give them a higher return on investment in exchange for changing the benefit structure that they would receive under Social Security.

Nikki Haley: Raise the retirement age to reflect life expectancy

We need to understand that Social Security will go bankrupt in 10 years; Medicare will go bankrupt in eight. But we shouldn't take away from anyone who's put into the system. Everyone who's been promised should get it. My kids are in their 20s. They're the ones we go to and we say, "We're raising the retirement age to reflect life expectancy." We limit benefits on the wealthy. Instead of cost of living increases, let's do increases based on inflation. And let's expand Medicare Advantage plans.
